Always easy to lose...even harder to keep off without the DS...that was my problem. Up and down until I ruined my metabolism.

When I was about 2 weeks post op, my husband was visiting friends of ours, and told them I had had the surgery.  I found the wife's reaction very interesting.  She said I always seemed like someone who was comfortable in my own skin....that I always seemed ok with being fat.  Funny, how others see us, isn't it?  I was SO not ok with it!

You know, I'll be the devils advocate here.  Any WLS is not for everyone. INHO, the Band and RNY should be off the market.  The Sleeve & the DS should be the only one's allowed.  Your life changes in ways you never imagined.  Good & Bad (I'm a realist)

Before you have it, do some soul searching as to "WHY" I want to do this.  Put down on a piece of paper all the things good and bad that you feel at the moment.  Then take another piece of paper and say "What do I want to change "  "What do I want to happen after having this surgery"

This surgery is truly "Your Mileage May Vary"  You may have an easy time or not, everyone is different.

Know that the upkeep is expensive.  DO NOT TAKE THIS light hearted.  You are changing your anatomy.  You must supplement the right way in order to keep your labs up and not go into malnutrition.  Are you prepared for that.  It is overwhelming at times.  I was always a vitamin person before.  It's different now.

Search your soul before doing this... make sure it is right for you!

An 18 pound loss is great but how often have you been able to do it in the past and more importantly, how long did it take you to gain it back and more.  Can you see yourself eating the way you have been for the rest of your life?  Being scared is a good thing.  It makes you think about what you are doing and forces you to re-examine your reasons for doing something.  That being said, fear alone is not, imo, a valid reason for not going through with your plans.

Best of luck in your journey.
