I'm six weeks post op and the only thing I can stand is chocolate champion nutrition pure whey protein stack. Super cold water (5oz) to 1 1/2 scoops in shaker and poured over ice. It's the only one I can tolerate. Good luck

According to DSfacts.com eggs are as absorbable as some protein shakes so why do you try those for a while.  Your taste buds may change.  You can also buy protein shake samples from Vitalady so you're not left with entire packets of protein while you're experimenting.

The page on DSfacts re protein is here http://www.dsfacts.com/protein.html

I am also 5 weeks post op as well from vsg, but I had the same problem. Everything tasted gross and made me want to throw up. And on top of it, I couldnt tolerate the Whey it makes me sick, and my stomach hurts for hours.  Then finally, I tried the egg white protein by Jayy Rob and finally!! Something I could smell and not get turned off from lol and actually drink. But I still water and ice mine down, because I hate anything sweet right now. But his aren't terribly sweet as some I have tasted. Good luck, and hope you find one. If you want to try his egg white....if you have a Vitamin Shop near you they sell samples.

Syntrax Nectar are pretty good. I could not tolerate any but those. I picked up some Jay Robb Yesterday. I am going to try those too.

I tried all the samples from Vitalady, the Syntrax line, etc.  I hated it.  Funny how the taste is so personal to each of us.

I drank ISO Pure early out.  Then decided I hated that also.  Tried a bunch more, and found ISO Sensation 93.  I love this stuff.  I drink the chocolate twice a day, for months now, and never grow tired of it.  I add it to my coffee, my morning yogurt, my ice cream, etc.    It has 30 gms of protein per scoop.

Here is another thought I forgot to mention - get the unflavored version and add it to what ever you want.  Just don't add it to hot food because the protein will cook/curdle and then it's ruined.  I have a lot of unflavored powder and add it to diet cranberry juice, yogurt, etc.

I add my protein drink to organic hot chocolate which is very low in sugar- I think its 5 grams and drink it warm. It gives me a variety from having to drink it cold. My taste buds changed dramatically after surgery.

I use JRobb unsweetened Egg protein, and add in some unsweetened cocoa powder.  I add flavor either by adding fruit, or using Sweetleaf vanilla creme or chocolate raspberry flavored sweetener, which has no artificial stuff in it.  Also, instead of using soy milk, use almond milk - you may be sensitive to soy as well.

Hi Corbin,

last week I turn to Carnation instant breakfast no sugar free they only have it in chocolate and am not a big chocolate fan. They also only have 13 gram of protein so I had to drink 3 of them.  I also try GNC Total lean shakes, they 25 grams of protein, lactose free and 2 grams of sugar.  I only like the strawberries & cream flavor. I am still struggling with getting enough protein, I get at 50 to 60 grams from food, so I need to find a shake i like.  I discover the hard way that am sensitive to soy as well, but I can't have almond milk I am  allergic to it. I am thinking of using rice milk or coconut milk.  At this point I am willing to try anything.

Thanks

Matrix peanut butter cookie made with skim milk is my shake of choice now.  I can believe the clumps are peanut butter.
