I too was scheduled to have surgery this month with Dr Stewart but now going with Dr Ayoola. Hopefully my insurance approves it all and I can get the DS done ASAP.

From what was said about Dr.  Ayoola apparently he is a qualified doctor.  Per one other patient who met him he said he feels confident to do the DS surgeries.  He also feels confident enough to do DS revisions.  He said he will keep doctor Stewart's schedule.  He will evaluate each case individually and when it comes to revisions if he doesn't feel comfortable enough because it has a lot of issues he will refer you to another surgeon that is awesome.

Hi Brenda,

I am in the approval process with Dr. Ayoola (I had scheduled my first appointment with Dr. Stewart originally).  He seems very nice and I was very excited but I have been a little annoyed at the lack of communication from his office during the approval process.  When I met with the Dr. and discussed co-morbidities (my BMI is 39.1) he insisted that it "wouldn't be a problem".  I've sense invested in a sleep study (I do have apnea) and the psych visit for which I'm sure I'll owe several hundred dollars at this point, and recently heard back from the office (Jessica) that in reality my insurance will not accept GERD or anything else for a co-morbidity besides diabetes or hypertension.  I have prediabetis and no hypertension.  So, she suggested that I have a fasting blood test but apparently I'm supposed to find my own lab?  I feel like I was "sold" on the procedure then abandoned.  Not sure where to go from here.  Please let me know if anyone else has had this same experience and if it is just a normal part of the process.

Thanks,

Michelle

I was with a different surgeon but I had to get my pre-op blood work done myself.  This thread shows what you'll likely need http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/DS/4443682/DS-Labs/#367444 88  Double check with your surgeon's office though as they may have something specific that they want to see that's not listed and you wouldn't want to go back for another blood draw.

I worked through my PCP to get all of my pre-testing requirements and lab tests scheduled.  Your PCP may have to contact your surgeon to get a list of their requirements.  Surgeon's are cutters and don't often pay a lot of attention to the detail of the pre requirements.  My PCP was a godsend and made the process much easier.

Have you had your surgery with Dr. Ayoola yet?  If so how are you doing and were you satisfied with the experience with him?

Hello Ladyjune,

I did not have Dr. Ayoola for my surgeon. My surgery was a revision from ERNY to DS. Since this is a very complicated revision surgery and I was having some health issues I chose to travel from MI to CA to go see Dr. Keshishian. I worked through my PCP to get all my pre-testing requirements done since I was traveling to get my surgery.

I do not have any experience with Dr. Ayoola.

Good Luck with your surgery.
