Vitamin question
I noticed that many of you take a lot of different vitamins such as, zinc, copper, magnesium etc. My doctor only wants me to take ADEK, Iron and Calcium citrate. I take AquADEKs which has A 18,167 , D3 800iu, E 150iu , K1 700mcg , Zinc 10mg, Niacin 10mg, Thiamin 1.5mg, Riboflavin 1.7mg, Vitamin B6 1.9mg, Folic acid 100mcg, Selinium 75 mcg, Sodium 10mg, Biotin 100mcg, Pantothenic acid 12mcg and Vitamin E in another form 80 mg.
I also take Celebrate Iron plus C 18 mg. I take vitaladies Calium citrate 2 pills 4 times a day and B12 once a day.
Is this good enough? I feel pretty good overall. I'm a little tired still but thats not really abnormal for me.
I think you'll find that your labs will start sinking on those doses. Those look more like doses for a sleeve or band, maybe almost enough for an RNY. You have much more malabsorption. I trust Vitalady's plan because my labs prove her plan works and my surgeons doesn't. Up to you on how you want to go forward.

It is the malabsorption. Vitalady's plan seems to be a good starting point for most people.
In the end your labs will guide you but I think you could be at a better starting point than you
are right now. However, I don't pretend to be a Doctor and never played one on TV. :) Also,
since I am relatively new these are just my best guesses until labs.
For a discussion with your Doctor you may want to look at the ASMBS
(American society for Metabolic and Bariatric surgery) nutritional guidelines for BPDDS
http://s3.amazonaws.com/publicASMBS/GuidelinesStatements/Guidelines/bgs_final.pdf
look at table 5.
It is not as extensive as vitalady's list but may carry more weight with your Doctor. You will see the
doses are much higher at least for A and D. Also two multivits a day which I think would exceed most of
the things you have listed. Here is an old OH thread talking about this.

Most people think that some of these doses are too low and the list is incomplete (hence Vitalady's popularity).
The other thing that drives people to the Vitalady list is that it seems to more than cover all the standard vitamins.
People are usually cutting back after labs rather than increasing dosages. It seems easier to cut back than to
fix a deficit.
I used the ASMBS list to tweak my Doctor's list and then compared what I had to the vitalady list and added what I
I thought would be helpful. Mostly more Vit D and Vit K.
I think Vitalady's plan is overkill. That said, I follow it to a T. I have reduced her recommended B supplementation (because of my labs) and take a little more calcium than she recommends (I hope that it reduces my risk for bone loss and I like to keep my bm's "healthy.").
I am among the many who dont want to gamble at having to bring my labs up. I would rather aim high (and pee the excess out) than follow a lower dose and struggle to get it up. Keep in mind, some vitamin levels can be brought up with supplementation. However, damage caused by a Vitamin A deficiency, is irreversible.
My one year labs looked great with this plan, except that my Bs were too high. It was easily adjusted.
I use the Multi ADEK, calcium, Vitamin D and B12 from Celebrate, but I prefer Vitalady's iron supplements because she has more choices. I think you'll need more Iron than the 18mg you have listed. Iron is the only thing I've had problem with and I now take two 60 mg of the tender iron, plus two of the Proferrin heme iron.
