Fatigue

This fatigue is kicking my booty. I don't know what to do to feel energized again. I'm trying to get my protein in. 60-80 a day. I'm taking all my vitamins except I tend to miss calcium once or twice a day. I'm open to suggestions. I'm in my 8th week post op.

See if you can get your labs done early.  Normally they're done at 3 months out, but if you're not feeling great I'd push for them early.  You're just guessing until you see those.  Post your results when you get them so the vets can take a look.

Hi surgery buddy.  I experienced this, it was, I believe around 4 weeks out....  Scared the pants off of me, because it was so bad I thought I was truely going to have to go to the hospital.  I didnt feel right, tired, rummy, weak...scary.  I was onley getting in two to maybe three once in awhile protien shakes.  Well when I got scared enough, I decided I was going to get serious, no matter what it took and get the 120grams in that I was soposed to.  I made my self eat even though it gagged me terribly and drank four to five shakes a day. Now I onley drink four at 28grams a peice.  I also switched from crystal to plain water for a few days.  The amazing thing is it took only two to three days to turn it all around.  After that I didnt gag on my food quite as bad.  Ive never felt like that since, and I truely believe I just wasnt getting all my protien in.  I would rather get more in than not enough.  At the same time, I will tell you that the thought of drinking another protien shake is horrifying to me.  I am so sick of them.  I look so forward for the day that I dont have to drink as many, but I know now isnt it.  I get other protien in with meat and eggs, and such but I still always drink a shake with each dose of vitimans, thats how I keep my intake straight......  Good Luck!

The thought of protein shakes really does gag me, but I'm going to have to give it a try. Thanks! Oh I see the dietician this next week. I hope she can help me.

Maybe try a different brand.  You can buy different protein shake samples from Vitalady so hopefully you'll find something you enjoy.

I also had this problem about 4 weeks out and I couldn't shake it.. But I realized the more food I consumed the better I felt the next day. Same with water if I didn't get enough in the next day I was weak and tired. Taking a shower was exhausting. I usually took a nap after. Munch every couple of hours, cheese, nuts, shake, CHEESE...

At Five months post op I still have the tired and weak if I didn't have a good food day. I tend to "forget" to eat and hours pass by without anything eaten and then there isn't enough time in the day to get it all in.
