I am scheduled for surgery bright and early Monday morning!  My mind and heart are racing with all there is to do between now and then.

Did you have moments like me when you wondered if you were doing the right thing or, if you would come out alright on the other side.  I'm trying not to worry at all but, I am a single parent.

I am so ready to improve my life and, become who I know I was created to be.

Any advice, reminders or encouragement would be greatly appreciated right about now!

Good luck!

You can totally do this! Believe in your body and listen to it after surgery!!

Relax this weekend.

I think the fact that you are a single parent is all of the more reason to do it. Your child depends on you and needs you healthy!

Everyone second guesses big decisions. Especially the life changing ones. If you are feeling doubt, go back and revisit all of the reasons why you wanted to have the DS in the first place. The odds are better that something would happen to your down the road due to an obesity related illness if you didn't have surgery, then after or during surgery.

Big hugs.

YOU CAN DO IT!!!

You are going to totally rock your DS and soon we'll be oohing and ahhing over your before and after pictures and your success!

Hugs!

I totally had those moments!  Right into the operating room!  And that was almost 9 weeks ago, already....

You'll do great!

I wish you a speedy and uneventful recovery!

I was obsessed with crazy thoughts before my surgery!  It is completely normal.  Especially since you have a child to care for.  I remember being on the surgical gurney waiting for the anethesia and having the "thoughts"...so fortunate to have been given some kind of medicine through the IV to calm me down an hour before surgery.

It's been six weeks now and it's the best decision I've made for myself.  I am sure you'll feel the same way!!  And posting about it on this forum :).

Sending calming vibes your way.

Doubts are absolutely normal. Try to breathe and relax this weekend. My surgery was two weeks ago and I had doubts right up until they gave me the magic juice in the operating room.

My advice is to take an eye mask with you. I wore it when I slept because the room was never dark enough. Also make sure your house is nice and clean for when you get home. And don't hesitate to take the pain medicine, both during and after your hospital stay. Oh and be nice to your nurses because they might have to help you wipe at some point. But let them! Don't strain or bend too far trying. TMI but honest. And walk, walk, walk. It sucks at first but it makes the gas and poo come out, which is a huge relief. It might take a couple of days for it to come out but it will. And you'll feel so much better without that extra pressure on your insides.

That's all I can think of for now. You will do just fine! Sending you good thoughts and good luck!

Thanks, Lady for the great advice.  I am going to take all that to heart and heed to it.  It's weird because it seemed far off and, now its here.  Feels like I don't have enough time to finish all that I need to do.

I just am praying that the surgery and immediate post op goes smoothly.

I wish I could think straight but, on this 4th of July, my neighbors on the front and back are making me think I'm at a shoot out at the OK Corral with these fireworks.  Not helping me to de-stress at all.  LOL

Most of us have those doubts right up to anesthesia. It is such a relief to get to the other side of the surgery. Take some comfort in the thought that you are doing this to have a better future, and for some of us to have any future at all.

Have a quick and safe surgery, then a quick recovery!

Thank you to everyone who has posted such encouraging words and advice.  I am working on cleaning my home as we speak and, will then try to get some items ready in a bag for the hospital.  I am excited to be 72 hours from changing my life for the better.
