Diarrheal Advice
Thanks fattyNC. Your post sounds close to what I maybe having. I can eat non-carbs and still have not be able to eat or drink anything in the morning because of my stomach hurting. Its not just about what I am eating. I had never heard of bile diarrhea. The nausea medication did nothing to clear it up or did nothing to clear up the diarrhea. I will research it. Hopefully I can see my Dr. or maybe go see my PCP. Thanks again this is very helpful!
The Creon is a last resort for someone who has lost WAY to much weight and needs to gain weight.
Calcium will bind you up. Immodium!!!
Probiotic.
Careful with your diet. Carbs will do this as will too much fat.
I take Calcium Citrate (two pills is one dose) at least 6 times a day. So my problem is getting the right balance between the Calcium and carbs.

If you think a surgeon and his nurse can help you more than the vets here then more power to you. Cut out the carbs. Get on Calcium Citrate. Two doses a day is NOT ENOUGH. Forget the creon unless you are happy with your current weight. Flagyl can work wonders. Early on I had to take a few rounds of it. Greek Yogurt is also a big help and you can buy full fat and flavor it with no/low carb flavorings. If you are taking protein supplents they may be the culprit. Wheat gluten (which is everywhere), lactose, and sugar alcohols are very much a no-no for most newbies. If you haven't already you need to cut them out of your diet.
You are going to have to do some thinking and working on your own with advice from the vets or you are going to wind up in worse shape than you are now. There are serious consequences for diahreah including anal fissures which may require surgery.
I promise you that Dr Stewart while an EXCELLENT surgeon is not and excellent follow-up doc and his nurse isn't either.
But do what you want.

Even when I cut out all bread and crackers just meat, veggies and fruits I still have dirreahea. More bothersome for ME is that I cannot drink or eat anything for hours after I poop. When I try drinking water it causes me to have a watery stool. I thought I explained all of this in my post. I was looking to see if anyone else in the DS community had this same issue and some advice from them. DS and RNY are different as well as each person's body is different. Thanks Laura and have a good day!

Dear LonestarReggae,
I am so sorry about your condition. I had an rny and had the same symptoms. I got hooked up with an IBS forum and discovered "Motofen" It is the best drug for diarrhea treatment. It's way better than over the counter and 5 times more effective than Lomotil which is prescription. You can take up to eight pills per day and you can still take some over the counter meds with it to really save you on those awful days. I will bet your doctor has not heard about this drug, but here is their website with full prescribing information http://motofen.com/ you can also read about it on wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motofen the biggest problem is cost if you have no prescription benefit. 240 pills cost about $750. No one that has not experienced this condition personally can imagine what an exquisite hell it is. Please hang in there and try to get hooked up with the IBS boards as they know more about chronic diarrhea than any group and they will welcome you.
Best wishes for better health

Hello Tomson,
Thanks for you support and concern. I saw my primary and I indeed have an infection. She has me on 2 antibiotics I started on and will complete in 2 weeks. I am on week 2. I am doing so much better! The only time I had an issue is when I ate grilled steak at home for the first time in a year. It made me sick, this past Friday. I was trying something new. Otherwise meat, fruits, veggies, protein bars all are doing fine. I had it teriyaki steak before as an asian dish out, but grilled at home I didn't do well. It also turns out, I didn't have nausea, my stomach was just cramping and hurling from the diarreah. All my labs were fine. She was really concerned about why the gastro nurse didn't catch this. I told her NP was more concerned about what I was eating and being "right" and putting me down. She prescribed the lomotil and it knocked out the diarrea pretty fast. I will do a followup with her in about a month. She is very pregnant hopefully she will be there. I like my pcp. And it is awesome to not be sick every day. Every now and then maybe, but everyday there is something wrong. I will check out the IBS group. Thanks again for your kind words and support.
I hope all works out for you and your health also.
