Diarrheal Advice
Exactly what my family was saying "You can't see your doctor!" No I can't unless I take the Creon and see if the complications go away. I have to see the NP at least one more time. The office mgr Trevor explained to me that Dr. Stewart only sees NEW(money) patients and NP sees the rest for after care issues. This was not explained to me prior to getting my surgery. NOT in the consult or meetings etc. They just talk about how successful the weight loss is etc. And it makes me feel bad for not knowing "all or what other questions" to ask. I am done beating myself up. I cannot know everything. My family and friends are great. I don't lie to them. They say oh you look good Girl! I thank them! But I cannot honestly tell them I feel good. And I don't reccommend this Dr. Stewart. I tell them to ask who is going to do their aftercare and how are complications handled. How many RNY or DS reversals has the DR done? If the Dr. they go to is not upfront, don't go with them. WLS is not all Roses and Butterflies. The number one thing I like right now is being a size 8/10. I am smaller on top/bigger on bottom. If I had money, I would be a shop-a-holic!
I am sorry I don't know what GP stands for? Please explain? Thanks again for your help.

You are not alone!
Another Stewart patient. Well, we have a tube for a stomach. I can't eat and drive. Nausea is part of my life. I have Zofran at work, in my purse, in my car and at my house. I HATE this surgery. I too have forgiven myself for having this surgery and try to stay positive. I have so many complications who knows what is next. If all the Stewart patients got together, he'd be taken off the DS Facts website.
Here is where you have to become your own advocate. Seek and find answers. He is just a cutter. Sue his NP is nice but does not know it all like she thinks. PM me and I'll give you the name of Drs in the area who are great for follow up. You have to seek answers. The answers are not going to come from his NP. They are not a diagnostic clinic.
Creon is only if you are on too fast a track of losing weight. Do you know what Bougie he used and what length your CC is? It should be in your op report.
Good Luck!
Thanks I sent you a message. I am a revision. He didn't redo my sleeve. Just my intestines. I have my paperwork and I will have to see what all he did. I know my gallbladder was removed and it didn't need to be. He said he did that with most patients to avoid troubles down the road.
Thanks again for everything.
Another possibility is that your could have bacterial overgrowth in your colon. If so, you might respond to a course of flagyl. This is something your pcp could prescribe for you if your surgeon won't.
Creon is digestive enzymes intended to decrease your malabsorption. It is a good treatment for people who lose too much weight, as it will slow of prevent weight loss. To my knowledge, it is not intended to treat diarrhea. If it were me, I would insist on speaking with Dr. Stewart, or seeing if he would respond personally to an email, and get rid the NP out of middle of the conversation - and I say this with all due respect to NP's, most of whom are excellent. But she works under the supervision of the doctor, and if she isn't able to help you, it's time for the doctor to step in. And yes, that is part of his job.
I hope you will find resolution to this problem. Flagyl has helped many people, and there is no good reason for you to suffer and regret your decision and be kicking yourself over it. The DS CAN be a positive decision for you.

I will try to see him. I am going to email her and see if she will setup an appt for him asap. I am having alot of what ncfatty described in their post. And it doesn't matter what I eat. I can go weeks without carbs and still have this same issue everyday. I am praying and trying to stay positive that there is a simple solution to this. Something that doesn't involve me paying out alot of money and getting another surgery. As I don't have the money or time for either.
I pray and wish you the best on your journey!
Is it possible you are having bile diarrhea? I have had it since DS surgery (and have had it after several abdominal surgeries in the past too). It happens in some people who have had their gallbladders removed of if their gallbladders aren't working anymore. When you have too much bile in your colon (of if you are especially sensitive to bile) you can have more yellow colored poop and it can burn you around the ahole. It makes your colon cramp and churn. It makes you have painful diarrhea. It is easily cured with daily colestid/colestipol. I take a 1 gm pill twice daily to control mine. Research it and see if this might be what is causing your diarrhea problem. The drug is very cheap and is not addictive in any way.
