Anyone who has major surgery usually has some hair loss.  We take LOTS of vitamins.

Hair thinning loss is normal with any rapid weight loss. While vitamins may help, they also might not.  Generally it starts around the third month and by month six it starts to resolve and slow down.

Yes I take lots of vites. I'm nearly a year out and I've not lost any hair. I've had a dozen general anaesthetics and have never lost any hair.

I had my DS almost a year ago, lost quite a bit, especially in the front.  The loss finally stopped, then had hernia surgery, lost a bit more.  I'm told anesthesia can kill hair follicles and it's normal...

Telogen Effluvium is the body's reaction to a trauma, be it surgery, stress, even childbirth.  It happens a few months post op and lasts a few months then stops.  No vitamin or fancy shampoo will stop this process.  Now, if you're further out and have had no trauma to the body, then it can be caused by malnutrition.

I did from month 3 to 7.  I have extremely thick hair so others did not notice.  Then at 7 months it stopped.  Hope this helps.

I was TERRIFIED of losing my hair!  I have long, curly beautiful hair and it's pretty much half my personality haha.  Starting day ONE I was strict with protein, VERY strict with my vits and liquids and two years later still have not had ANY hair loss at all.

Nice to hear from someone else who didn't lose hair.  I guess that's the thing about the web... people don't often post saying 'hey everything's fine' :-D

Yes, I did. I was worried that it wouldn't come back, but it did, and it's actually thicker and healthier than before I had my DS. So 12-18 months, yeah. Lots of hair loss, but be patient, it will come back (if you take your vitamins and take care of your body).
