I had my band removed 2/14/12 and converted to DS and have not regretted it once.  At first my stomach was very sensitive and it took a while before I was able to take all my vits but at this point my stomach can take any thing.  My capacity is reduces without the need for puking or feeling something strange in my throat.  I went down to low 150 and was bad and gained 18 pounds I am in the process of getting back on track........  It is a work in progress.  When I plan I do much better as I do not tend to grab the nasty M&M's.  I love my DS however know like any thing else it takes work.  My poop is back to normal.  The less bad carbs the more normal my stools and the less I fart which is a good thing.  The vits were the hardest things to get use to.  Now I can eat all kinds of protein but at first I had to rely on shakes and I found my taste changed post op and there were not many I could stand.  Champion whey chocolate worked best for me.  Some say it has to many carbs but since it was the only thing I could stomach at that point in my wt loss I was OK with it.  I also used heavy cream mixed with water and chopped up ice cubes so it was almost like a mud slide and I enjoyed it.  I hear of those who have very sensitive stomachs even after a year that is not the case with me  Capacity is my biggest issue as I fill up fast.  So I tend to snack on protein in order to get my daily amount.  The only other thing I can think of is between 3 months and 7 month I lost some hair which I think is very normal.  Hope any of this helps you will love your DS.

Donna - this is a great help.  I am so excited I cannot even tell you.  I feel like I have the opportunity for a new lease on life.  I just got my surgery date, July 31st.

Can you tell me what I can expect that first week after the hospital when I am staying in a hotel - will I be able to drive, carry things, etc.  What contingencies do I need to plan for?  I'm curious when you said you were bad and gained 18 - what exactly constitutes "bad" and how much time did it take you to gain 18 (eg. is weight rebound fast with the DS)?

Thanks so much for the info and words of encouragement.  Can't wait - just ordered my vitamins today - any tips on which vitamins to buy and wear?  I looked at vitalady's recommendations.  Do most DSers follow them?
