Question About Protein

Okay, I know that you vets are sick and tired of answering questions about protein, but I have one for you anyway frown. I know that everyone says to not even bother with any protein that is not whey protein isolate, and I have listened to your advice. I was on dsfacts yesterday looking for the ricotta fluff recipe and just got to reading around there since it has been a while since I have done so. Well, on the page there for protein, it says the exact opposite. Here is what it says:

According to Michelle at Vitalady.com, make sure your protein powder or drink states that it is pre-digested or hydrolized. And the best kind of protein would be a whey blend protein. Second best would be a 100% whey protein. Isolates, though good for a quick acting pick-me-up, are not sufficient alone for post-op DS patients on-going maintenance requirements.http://www.dsfacts.com/protein.html

Any thoughts or comments on this?

Eat natural protein with meat and cheese and eliminate all doubt.  If you can't find the ricotta fluff reciipe, it's on my profile

I hope I am able to do that later on. Right now I am still on liquids and I'm sure it will be a while before I am able to eat enough food to get that much protein in. I will continue to drink my Syntrax until then since its the one I have been able to stomach the best!

That's a quote from Vitalady before the protein shake companies switched up their formulas because whey protein became so scarce and expensive. A blend is good if whey protein isolate is the first ingredient and the sugar substitute and lactose content doesn't bother you. I wasn't able to drink the blends after the formulas changed, so now I stick with 100% whey protein isolates that are sweetened with Splenda, stevia or monk fruit. My best luck has been with Syntrax Nectar.

Hi Gina. Was this change recent? I was very disappointed when I bought my 5# tub of Champion Nutrition Pure Whey Stack this last time. I didn't realize there was a difference until I started using it (I just thought they had a new look - which is actually what the label said - "new look same great taste"). But that wasn't true. There were so many changes about the way it is that I can't even make it like I use to. I like it very cold - due to the change I can't mix it and let it sit in the fridge over night to get it cold enough. Not only that, I'm pretty sure it has less protein and more carbs! I'm looking for something else now because I feel that 9 carbs a drink is too many carbs. I want to have as much of my carbs as I can to go towards food.
Thanks,
Ronnie

It's been in the last year or so. They changed my IDS vanilla cinnamon the same way. Blech! Now I use Syntrax Nectar. The Nectar chocolate truffle is good. I drink that at lunchtime sometimes.

Micronized protein is good because it goes right into your system.  Optimum Nutrition makes Hydro Whey protein that is really good, Nature's Best is a great protein supp and I also do Casein protein before bed and Gold Standard makes the best with the lowest carbs.
