I'm about a week post op and I'm working on my hydration. I thought it would get better but drinking water or crystal light gives me huge heart burn. I can live on ice chips and Popsicles. Thoughts?

Are you taking Nexium or some other acid inhibitor?  I found that essential - still do!

One tip to try -  Papaya Enzyme.  You can find it in the health food store  - the one I have has a minty, Tums-like taste, and really helps!

I second the acid reducer. Another trick is to add some fresh squeezed lime juice to your water and sweeten with Splenda or Truvia. Something about equalizing the acid between the water and the stomach acid.

early out, it didn't feel like heartburn to me when i drank water, it just gave me a yucky upset tummy.  someone suggested to stop drinking cold water.  try it room temp or even hot.  sure enough, ho****er was just the ticket to help me get my adequate hydration in.  now that i am 4 yrs out, i can do cold water.

still not a big water drinker.  decaf tea and coffee are my go to liquids. i was never a tea drinker, now, every morning i drink 16 oz of hot tea.  habit i guess.

I used to drink Crystal Light all the time. Now it gives me heartburn unless I add only a drop. Regular water is fine though. I have no idea what changed but I can no longer drink the CL. Maybe cutting back on the amount you put in your water will help.
