So i had my pre op visit today and nutrition class.Six days until surgery starting to hit home now.I found out today the DR. is going to use the divinci robot on me to do the surgery. He has done this with several of his DS patients.Has anyone heard if this ads time to the surgery.I got all caught up in everything and forgot to ask him.

My surgeon used the robot as well.  One of the last things I remember before being anesthetized was saying "Is that the robot?  It's huge!"  It really looked like a transformer!  My surgery was 4.5 hours, which I believe is pretty standard.

Good luck with your surgery!

I know they use this innovative technique alot in Montreal, quebec (the Sacre-Coeur hospital) and it's supposed to be FABULOUS! Very precise, less room for human error. Lucky you! Good-luck!

hopefully some of the pennsylvania ds'ers will chime in here.  many of us from the abington bari center had our ds done via robot.  my incisions are nearly invisible.  there was virtually no pain from the entry sites, unlike traditional cutting. made for a much easier recovery.

along with the ds, gallbladder and appendix were also removed with the robot.
