I eat 600-8-- cals a day,though that does vary.

I keep my carbs very low,I try to keep them less than 30 but that varies as well. "White" foods and sugar alcohols give me foul gas,so I really stay away from them. the gas is uncomfortable for hours after i eat too many of these items so I usually steer clear.

I eat eggs, dense protein, cheese, some green and fibrous veggies. I use whole full fat cream ,butter and full fat salad dressings and sauces of all kinds. Low fat/fat free has never been in my vocabulary as if they take out the fat they add sugar or flour or some other starch that are pure carbs and the end product tastes like what I imaging butt tastes like, lol.a I can now eat an occasional slice of whole wheat bread and still lose and not have my cravings triggered.

Wow! I don't know if I could actually eat that low calorie. I try to stay below 1600 a day - but I'm not losing. I think you're right - I'm eating like I'm in maintenance mode. Ugh!

I think that after this weekend - I will try cutting down and see how it goes. It's frustrating to read how easy it is for some folks and I have to remind myself that my sleeve is 2 1/2 years out and not the tiny thing it once was.

Thanks for sharing your strategy!

Did you have a revision from VSG to DS?

Thanks for the suggestion. I will try anything at this point! I will scale the calories back and the exercise. I was working out twice a day some days and my weight just stays the same! I will try less calories with 5 mini meals a day or something like that. There is nothing worse than somebody asking how your weight loss is going but you have nothing to report! :( thank you for taking time to share your experience with me.

Glad to and hope it helps.  early on I was sounding like a newby, just knew my Ds wasn't working and so disapointed!.

I couldn't understand why the pounds just didn't melt off like every other Ds'er said they did on them.

it took me a while to figure out how it was going to be for ME and I realized i couldn't depend on any other DS'ers experience being my experience too.

I have found 600-8-- cals (STILL!) just like my vsg works best for me. I will gain/maintain if I eat any carbs at all so am trying to drop those Satan-infused items...again.

I have also found that if my whole program isnt a go ( plenty of fluid AND my vites) my loss won't be as good. are you getting your vites and fluid too?

Erij -

Muscle weighs more than fat, and if you were working out twice a day , you were probably either building muscle or  not giving your body enough recovery time from your workout sessions, and experiencing  some water retention.

I was going to ask you about how many calories you eat so I'm glad you came back. I was just thinking the other day that when i got home from the hospital I was eating a little soup, cream of wheat etc.. and was loosing a pound a day. only eating about 1/2 of a cup at a time but i was like I was eating carbs and loosing, now I'm eating very low carb and cant even loose!

I do ok on fluid... I can't seem to eat 100 grams of protein so I had to just understand I will have to have at drink at least one protein shake per day and found one that I can get down. I could up water a bit, and vites, no I'm not doing as I should... I bought all chewables and it's hard to chew up iron and all the others! Thought it would be easy post surgery but it's just to much to chew on.  I went to the store today and bought some dry  vites and have taken some already this afternoon. I am one who believes in order to get help you have to be honest so full disclosure I have been very hit and miss with the vites up until this week. Started zinc this week too because my face is breaking out and I read on DS facts that might help. So if vites are the missing link, i am hopeful that now that i am getting on track with that it will help.

Thanks again!

good on the fluid. I also have to have at least one shake to get my protein up. What do you mix it with? I use whole cream cause we need the fat and it tastes heavenly! Whole cream has very few carbs and that is important for my loss.

As long as we are confessing, lol, I also have trouble getting my vites in every day. I was the same way with the VSG vites. No,it is not the best way to do it,and I will try much, much harder if you will. Deal? I don't mind taking them and was prepared for the vast amount of them, but if I get off track one day, then I am off track. same with water...if I get in a rut with it one day,it is hard to get back on track. But we will just keep trying our very, best,no?

Glad you got the regular vites. I have been swallowing mine whole since day 2 after my vsg.

I know it's hard.  Heck, I tipped this week and I'm a virgin DSer.  You just have to play with the variables till it clicks and you start losing again.

When you work out this hard, you are building muscles which weigh more than the fat does.  So you are losing weight, you just can't tell because you are working out so much.  I would relax a little on that.  Maybe every other day, or just once a day.  And give yourself 2 days off per week.  You will build more muscle doing that.

Do the math to figure out how much protein you need per day (tell us if you don't know how).  Your fat: best if it's between 50 and 100gms - the higher, the better.  But don't suck down a stick of butter till you have the BMs balanced out with your vits.  Add fat over time, and increase the vits that constipate you.  Otherwise you will become as loose as a big goose.

Your carbs should be 50 or below.  Since you work out so much, you can have more carbs - between 50 and 100.  Carbs are an individual thing.  Some people (especially men) can eat more than 50 carbs a day and lose a lb a day.  Some of us (with broken metabolisms, who have lost and gained a lot of weight over the years) cannot be scarfing down a lot of carbs.  And you will find that  carb sweet spot by eating 50 or below a day.  If you aren't losing any weight for 3 weeks, cut your carbs by 5 per day for a couple weeks and see if that starts the gradual weight loss.

If you still aren't losing weight after all that - do what everyone is telling us to do.  Eat our weight in protein and fat, work hard to shove down 2500-3000 calories a day and see if they are right.
