How is this possible?

I know that YMMV.. I get that. I was revised from the Lap Band to the DS on May the 1st. I lost 10 pounds on the pre-op diet, and have lost 18 pounds since. I am working out more now than I ever have. At first i was loosing the pound a day. But then at the 3 week stall that stopped.

After my Dr's visit i was told i was not eating enough so I'm trying to put something of protein in my mouth every two hours. I am working out so hard i am wondering why i even bothered to have the surgery. I am dang near in tears this morning. Nothing worse than getting on the table and making a big bill just to think you might be successful.  I lost almost 100 pounds with the lap band before gaining almost all of it back once they fixed the slipped band. So i just want to hear if there are others who had lost a lot of weight and had a hard time getting it off the second time. How much fat should i aim for? that may be something I'm low on... Thanks...

I have a friend who is a revision from lapband to the Sleeve.  She is losing at a much slower pace than I am.  I read the same thing from other revisioners.  Looks like you all lose slower, but you will lose.  Please stay encouraged.  Sometimes it helps to confuse the body a little.  If you workout every week, try taking one week off, then start up again.  Increase the amount of water you drink, increase your protein.  With the DS, there is no consistent pattern to losing weight.  One month I'll struggle to lose 10 pounds, then suddenly I'll lose 15 with no effort.  I'll be 8 months post op next week but I still get very frustrated when I stall.  It sucks, but this too shall pass.

Also, please only weigh yourself once a month.  Trust me, you'll feel much better.  The weekly weigh-ins drive me nuts!  Start measuring inches.  I find that even when I'm not losing pounds, i'm losing inches.  Losing inches is even more fun because you get to shop for smaller clothes.   LOL!

I'm a two time failed lap-band revision to DS myself. I am six months out and have lost 50lbs. I do see were virgin DS'ers lose faster then us too. My surgeon PA told me that revision patient lose slower because of how our metabolism has gone up and down over the years of having the lap-band. Also for me I have a 150CC which you can still lose weight however to me it seems like DS'ers with shorter common channels lose quicker because the malabsorption . However on the upside I was told the reason my surgeon did a 150CC is because of the long-term outlook of less bathroom issues and vitamin deficiency. However some DS'ers have shorter common channels and have little to no problems. So i guess each person is different. Also with the sleeve size. I was told that I had scare tissue from the lapband and to be on the safe side my surgeon made my sleeve a little bigger than an virgin Ds'er is because with scare tissue I'm assuming its an little complex due to the scare tissue for the sizing. However on the upside I have no problem getting in my protein. I can eat anything however I do have to watch the damm carb monster.  But I have lost faster with the DS then the crapbands I had..it would have taken me a year to just lose 50lbs with the crapbands and I would have been miserable with the throwing up. Hang in there it will come off. The vets state you can not break the DS.... AND I'M BELIEVING AND WAITING...

Thanks for the reply! Dr. Kim did my surgery too! So i know all about that 150cc, scar tissue and large sleeve! You are right I know my metabolism is messed up. I just did not expect it to be so slow. Thanks again for sharing with me. Continued success to you! Have a great day!

It is actually very common, almost universal, to have a stall surprisingly early out with the DS, whether virgin or revision. It's very discouraging when that happens, as you are eating so little (and in your case working so hard) yet the weight hangs on.

Fear not, you WILL lose weight! Great advice already about eating more protein and mixing up the exercise. And about staying off the scale for awhile also. Hang in there, the DS may work more slowly for you but it WILL work.

You are not alone I have to do the same thing eat every couple off hours just to not allow my metabolism to slow down. I am a revision from RNY (over 100 lost) to DS. I'm down 88 lbs and just under 7 months out. But I have to watch everything i eat and I have had a couple of big loses but mainly only lose like 2 lbs every two weeks. I have to fight for every pound and see so many losing like 4 + pounds a week effortlessly. Wish I woulda had the DS originally. It's a struggle every day. Just keep eating healthy and clean.you will get there.

I certainly appreciate everybody taking time to share and encourage me. I try not to come on and vent but it was a bad day! To try so hard and have nothing happening all came to a head this morning! I will have my husband hide my scale when he gets home.. Going to think positive thoughts and trust God will see us all through to our goals. Thanks again!

i converted from the VSG to Ds in march.  I,too, was trying to eat a typical DS diet with thousands of calories. I was eating dense protein every hour on the hour round the clock.

What that got me was maintenance mode. i can't eat that many calories and lose. i think less of my intestines are bypassed since i wasn't fat from goal...less than 50# at the time of my Ds. I have been a slow loser through out the who;le WLS process, but I AM losing.

Since I scaled back the calories,i am in losing mode again without exercise. I can lose a pound a day most days, doing it this way.

Could it be that since you can;t eat enough, you need to scale your exercise back some?

Honestly. even though i KNOW exercise is good for all of us ,I have lost 108# without an exercise program, just sporadic activity here and there.
