Protein or water?

I'm 3 days out right now..is protein more important right now or water?

My impression was that the risk of dehydration is higher at first, so I am pretty sure its water and liquids you can tolerate :) I'm pretty sure the vets will know the answer though. Congrats on your new ds.

Water, SF popsicles, SF jello . clear broth anything liquid you can look through and sugar free is what I handles the first few weeks.  Congratulations! maybe will meet you at support group meetings?

Hydration is the most important issue for the day.  That said, make your protein shakes and sip on those all day.  Kills 2 birds.... 

Throw some unflavored protein powder into your broths (don't put powder in boiling hot liquids cause it will clump up and turn to wall paste).

Hydration is the way to go. Water in whatever form you can get it in, adding some lemon really helped me the first couple of days home - then crystal light for flavor.

Water! You can go a while with low protein because of the stores you had before surgery. Bu****er is a necessity. Always. Dehydration can come quickly.
