Prayers Needed.

So, I was laid off Monday. I have been with that company for five years and they lay me off a month and two weeks after I return back from surgery. I am devastated.

Today I noticed my eating issue. Last night I had two pop tarts. This morning I had another. The stress of this is making me want to eat sweets and carbs. I have been so on my game and losing. I was down to 300. When I woke up this morning I was at 303. I  know it is just stress and more than likely water weight. I cannot possibly eat enough calories to gain that kind of weight in a day with the DS. It still sucks. I want to eat everything in sight right now. The more chocolate the better. =/ This is the first time since surgery I have wanted to do this.

I will take any prayers or good karma I can from my support team here at OH. I am desperately trying to find work before I lose everything. Pray for me.

Thanks.

Oh honey - you have to believe that there's something better out there for you.  I know A LOT of people who were laid off and EVERYONE is now in a better place.  I know it seems dreadful right now but you need to be as positive as you can be and believe that things happen for a reason.

Sending you positive vibes and a great big ((hug)).

Yes, I can imagine that the stress of this is testing your old "eating demons".  Maybe you could try telling yourself that out of this whole job mess situation the DS and the weightloss that it is providing is the one thing that you can count on that has the possibility of bringing you alot of happiness during a not so happy time.  If you start sabatoging yourself with it, you wont be taking advantage of the joy it can bring you in a "not so great time"  With that being said, I really feel for you.  Please stay strong, dont give in to temptation.......I will be praying for you.........

I am so sorry to here about your lay off. You will definately be in my prayers. My husband has been furloughed causing us to 1/4 of our pay each month so we will be struggling the next 4 months but its not as bad as losing your job. Another door WILL open for you and it will be better than the last!

I am so sorry for you!  Here's hoping you find something better quickly.  It sucks to be blindsided by something totally out of your control.

Now you have a choice.  You get to control your reaction to the crisis.  You get to pick.  Yes, you can eat chocolate and pop-tarts.  ORRRRR you can choose to use this time to do everything you can to get in better shape and maximize your weight loss.  There is no down side to this.  We both live in the real world where it's a lot harder and there are fewer opportunities for people of 'size'.

Victim or victor.  This choice you control.

Like any negative situation, especially one manifested by a blindside, there will be a mourning period.  Poptarts and chocolates have their place, but don't let them sabotage all the hard, personal work you have been doing!

Once you get over this initial period, you may find you have more time to work on YOU.  Then something better will come along.  I always say, things always have a way of working out, but it's hard to realize in the throes of chaos.

Be kind to yourself....and maybe stay off the scale during your mourning period?

So sorry you were laid off but I have an idea from reading your posts that you have the resilience to bounce back quickly and find a much better position with another company. Cut yourself some slack and don't beat yourself up over a little chocolate. Be strong, be positive!

Hey baby!  From one unemployed to another - it's not that bad right now.  The job market is better now than the last 4 years.

I do admit, I will stress eat once in a while.  I will eat because I'm home, can't afford to go any where or do much, so I tend to walk back and forth to the frig all day.  But I decided to turn this time around to my advantage - start exercising.  Look for projects around the house that will keep you occupied so you don't aimlessly eat your way through the day.

You will find another job.  So use this time to get as much weight off as possible.  Go to the library and check out some work out videos, start a walking program, lift weights (you can make your own weights), clean house.

Call Quest Labs and start getting a quote for your blood lab work.  I found that Quest charges me 600 for all my blood work, and my COBRA payment every month was 500 dollars.  I don't go to the doctor except for those labs - and I come to the vets here to tell me what is wrong and what to take because I don't trust my doctors to tell me useful info.  So check out how much it will cost to get your 3 month labs, your 6 month labs and your annual labs compared to what your COBRA payment is.  Visit the Vitalady site and see what is required, then map it out and get a quote from Quest.

Keep calm, and look for ways to cut your cost to nothing.  Make it a game to see how you can eat for pennies a day - and start having garage sales.  Fortunately, chicken and eggs are pretty cheap.
