Doctor search anyone have surgery with Dr. LELAN F SILLIN, MD
Dr. Sillin's name is familiar, but I haven't seen him mentioned as a DS surgeon for a long time...which frankly is irrelevant to your personal situation. You are looking to have an RNY converted to a DS. Just because Dr. Sillin is turning his patients over to Dr. Brams doesn't somehow make Dr. Brams an experienced DS surgeon, let alone someone with experience converting an RNY to a DS. This is the most complex and high risk bariatric operation presently being done. Taking care of Dr. Sillin's post-op patients requires knowledge of the DS but that isn't remotely the same as experience doing this operation.
You need to ask Dr. Brams, NOT Dr. Sillin, what his experience is doing a conversion of RNY to DS. My guess is zero. You need to contact surgeons experienced in doing this operation, not someone who works with someone who has done it. Accept that your surgeon options are limited. Accept that you will need to travel. Accept that you may need to contact more than one DS revision surgeon, depending on how your old RNY was done. This is the reality of RNY to DS revisions.
