I was out for 3, but I also had my gallbladder removed and an esophogial ulcer repaired so I had a little more done than the average DS.  Fortunately I have a desk job.  I was really tired the first week back but it got better.  I did find that if I sat too long I started to get achy, like everything was getting squished, so I'd get up every hour or so and walk around.

Do you think planning to be out to weeks is unrealistic? I am lucky enough to have a desk job now to and i know it would be easier than being on my feet all day....i worked @ walmart for a few years i dont think if i was still working there i would even consider 2 weeks..

I probably could have gone back after 2 weeks, but I realized early on in week 2 I blew it my first week home.  Didn't get enough water, wasn't eating enough, so I didn't feel ready.  Was VERY light-headed and exhausted by the simplest tasks.  It took me another week to make up for the first week and get myself back into "shape".

Make sure you behave and get your water in!  That's the one thing I'd do over, pay more attention to my fluids.

By the 3rd week, I was done sleeping all the time and getting bored being at home.  But everybody's different....

I have a desk job, but I was out for a month... I was so weak there was no way I could stand 8 hours being Dillbert.

I was out 6 weeks, but probably could've gone back at 5.  There's no way in hell I could've gone back at 2 weeks.  Of course, everyone is different.

I only had 3 weeks to take, so I guess you make do when you have to.  Dr. wanted me out 6 but originally told me I could go back after 2 if all went well.  Since I didn't do what I was supposed to, the first week was hellish.  My fault.

I was out 2 weeks. Desk job also. But, I had an amazing recovery - no nausea, no diaherra, little pain. I was getting all 100 g of protein in by the time I went back. I did get tired, but that was because I would walk between bldgs for mtgs and walk in the pool for half hr after work. But I upped my iron, and it seems to have helped alot. Today started my 2nd week back. Feeling even better than last week
