A Little Setback

My wife has not been well, and my mother-in-law thought I needed a break, and she had us visit for a couple weeks. We packed in a hurry, and I forgot my protein powder at home.

Anyway, we made the trip to the mother-in-laws, and she did take a  lot of the load off me while we were there, and she cooked for us. I kept trying to explain to her the requirements of my diet, and apparently I did a poor job of explaining, but I did always have my protein, but there was always lots of carbs right along with it.. I felt bad rejecting half the stuff she fixed, so I went along and picked at it. Apparently, more than picked at it, as I gained 14 lbs in the 2 weeks I was there. Didn't really know it until I got home to the scale.

My brother in law heard I forgot my protein powder, and he bought over some protein that was not isolate,. and it was loaded with carbs and sugar. Since he spent money on the protein, I was obligated to use it, and my MIL was on me all the time to do my protein drinks.

Anyway, I am back home now and cutting out the carbs till the scale starts moving the other way.

It was not my mother-in-laws fault I gained. It was purely my fault. Next time we visit, I am taking my protein, and will probably cook for myself, or offer to cook for the family, but make my own plate.

On a side note. On this trip,  I found that I am now able to go to Wal-mart and buy clothes. Last June I was in 7x. What I bought last week was a mix of 2 and 3x. I would rather pay 10 bucks for a pair of shorts instead of $54 at the big mens shop.

On the positive side, I am glad you got a break.  That must have really helped with the stress.  And I know what you mean about finally being able to buy from the cheaper stores!!!  What a great NSV.

It was a small set back in the grand scheme of things.  I'm glad you're not dwelling on this too much and you're making plans to do better in the future.

That is a great attitude. Must be nice to walk in anywhere to buy some clothes. Chalk this up to a learning experience and move on. I hope your wife feels better soon.

I wouldn't be supprised if some of your weight gain wasn'****er retention. I don't think you could gain 14 pounds in only 2 weeks. Now I can see where you are retaining more fluids because you actually ate poorly. Your body may react that way.

Just stick with the low carb now and I bet that extra weight will be gone real quick.

Oh Doc...I was just going to message you when I saw your post. So sorry...I have not been on here lately. My computer crapped out and have been using my IPAD...in which is very hard for me to post or update since I don't have a keyboard;/

Hope the wife is doing well. Drop me a message when you have the time. We need to catch up!
