Quick question, I'm hooked on nuts! Almonds, Cashews, Peanuts, Soy Nuts... Is this okay? I've even been eating Sunflower Seed Kennels. Is this okay? I'm just over 6 months out.. My weight keeps halting and it seems it may be a fat thing (I'm not getting in enough), there is tons of fat in Nuts.. Is it okay to munch on Nuts throughout the day? How much is too much? Is this going to come back and hurt me? I know some people have digestion issues and nuts make them worse.. is this so with us DSer's?

Please Help !!

I eat cashews almost daily. Good source of protein, and they don't bother me. Peanuts do bother me, so I stay away from them. Having fat in your diet (within reason) is a good thing. Your body needs some to help with hair, nails, ect....

I think nuts for ds'rs is a perfect snack. I eat the same nuts as you. everyday. Through out the day. I probably eat about 4 oz of nuts a day. I'm glad you asked this question. I'm interested to see what people say. Try pepitas they are hulled pumpkin seeds. They are good and have the most protein in the nut variety.

I found them at fresh and easy. I'm not sure if you have one in your area. They are raw so you have to roast them yourself but this give you an opportunity to get creative..

Each individual will have a different reaction/ non-reaction to nuts - YMMV.  I would love to eat nuts, but I am unfortunately sensitive to them.  They affect my digestion and I get dry, blotchy patches on my skin.  On the other hand, I had the sensitivity to nuts before the surgery as well.  I just had an allergy test done, and nothing significant popped up.  I also have the sensitivity to lactose and artificial sweeteners.  Not everyone gets so lucky.

From my NUT, you should be keeping eating and drinking separate, so you should be drinking all day, and eating nuts as snacks at times when you are not drinking.

As for how much to eat a day, figure out how much you are consuming now on a daily basis.  Weigh the new bags of nuts at the beginning of the day and the end of the day to figure out how much you ate.

The no drinking while eating thing is for RNY.  You have a pyloric sphincter, they don't.

I was told no drinking while eating, too.  I was also told no nuts or seeds during this phase- I'm just over 6 weeks out, and in phase 3 of my surgeon's program.  I'm bummed because I love nuts and seeds!

I love me some pistachios. I eat them all the time. A cup at a time sometimes.

Be sure to track your carbs on those nuts.  Cashews have 8 carbs per 1/4 cup.  I used to eat these things all the time till I saw that.  I mean I would eat a cup at a time.  I measure those out now.
