OMG...My surgery is in 9 days!!

I'm freaking out. I'm not sleeping well and I'm struggling with the preop diet. I did have a dream that it went well, but I have had a dream that it didn't. I have a question for the post ops here.  Did anyone have OSA at the time of surgery? Was there a device used, while you were under, to keep your airways open? For diabetic DSers, was your A1C high or low at the time of surgery? My A1C on 6/4 was 9. Did anyone drive on the departure day or were you too out of it? I'm doing this by myself and I'm trying to figure out if I'll need to take a cab to the airport. I'm starting to have these worst case scenario plans like...I've been scrubbing done my house because if I die on the table I don't  want anyone to come to a messy house.

Take a second and relax. Breathe and take it easy.

I had obstructive sleep apnea, and the doctor had me bring my bi-pap to the hospital with me. I have no idea if  I wore it during surgery, but I know it rode the gurney in with me. The anesthetist will make sure to maintain your airway during surgery.

I am not diabetic, but I would think 9 would be okay( I know it is not ideal, but it isn't 19) I was told not to drive for 10 days after I left the hospital. YMMV, but I would plan on the cab.

Please don't stress so much about the surgery. Yes, there is pain, but a whole bunch of us have handled it and moved on to the fun parts of having this surgery.

Breathe...

You don't have to worry at all about OSA.  You will be intubated during surgery.  Postop you will be wearing a pulseox monitor on your finger.  They will know immediately if you have a problem.

I had raging diabetes when I had my surgery.  They gave me insulin at the hospital.  Don't worry about it.
