NO hunger with just Sleeve but much hunger with full DS??

I am two weeks out revision from Sleeve to full DS.  One striking difference is hunger.  With just the sleeve, I was not hungry most of the time.  With the DS revision, I'm hungry every two to three hours.  Is this normal?  Any reason why there is more hunger with the full DS?  Could this just be stomach acid?  I'm afraid to take a PPI because of further malabsorption of vitamins with the PPI.

Thanks!!

It is normal to be hungry. I'm almost 2 years out, and I still get very hungry every 2.5-3 hours. I get to the point of feeling weak, if I don't eat soon. So yes, it IS normal.

If you didn't have anything done to your sleeve, why shouldn't you be hungry?

Do NOT be afraid of a PPI...most of us take one...I can't take prilosec, I take prevacid.

Nexium here. I would be miserable without it!

Nexium works for me but my insurance will not pay for it...so I use the generic for prevacid.

Did you get re-Sleeved? If not, the only reason I can think of for you to be hungrier now would be because at 2 weeks post-op, you're probably not eating much of anything---AND you're malabsorbing a significant portion of what little you do eat.

You could be having acid issues, but if you weren't re-Sleeved I'm not sure why this would suddenly start. But yes, most DSers I know eat every 2.5-3 hours.

Can I ask how much did it cost to move from the sleeve to the full DS?

I would call the dr. office about taking a PPI.  I bet it would help.

Does too much stomach acid make us feel hungry?  Just wondering, because I'm always hungry.  I eat, and 2 hours later I could eat that dinner all over again.

I had no stomach acid problems at all.  I was put on a PPI for the first month post op and didn't need it after that.  I STILL ate every 2 hours for a couple of years.  The great thing about the DS is that you can eat every hour if you want to and as long as you eat high protein, moderate fat, and low carb you will lose weight and will be able to keep it off.

I used to take food every time I got in the car.  One bag of cold proteins like cheese and one bag of non-cold proteins along with plenty of water.  Even if I was going out to eat I packed food.  I would find myself hungry by the time I got in the car after eating at a restaurant.

NO GUILT.
