Unfortunately, I don't have pre-op labs.  I'm sure I could get them from my surgeon, as they do run baseline labs.

I'll call and ask on Monday.

I had my DS at St. Vincent's. I got jumped by a NUT, telling me I was going to ruin my kidneys.

Jazzy, you're smarter than to believe that threat.  If you're only absorbing 50% of the protein you eat then that other 50% can't possibly "ruin your kidneys."

Go by your labs, if your protein level is just barely within normal limits, then you're eating just barely enough protein.

As far as the "tingly" feeling in your legs, I think that increasing protein is one of the treatments for Restless Leg Syndrome - along with iron, folate, B12, magnesium and some other things that I don't recall right now...

J.G -

You know, I was taking a Rx medication (Mirapex) prior to my DS for Restless Leg Syndrome.

As for the tingly feeling, I was associating that with possible muscle wasting from missing the mark on protein.  I haven't had any swelling, like I did with the PCM last year, just intermittent  tingling in my lower legs.

I also have intractible insomnia, which I believe I read was one of several symptoms for Vit. D deficiency.  Got to check that, though, because I'm going purely on memory on this one!
