Okay, so I had some trouble with the first Dr. I sought out. So now I'm on the road to another Dr. I would like you opinions, comments, and concerns about Dr. Jossart. I chose him as my plan B because he doesn't have a program fee. He is located 6 hours away from me but I think it is a better trade off than Dr. K's program fee. And of course Dr. K is my plan C. I'm hoping to get all of this worked out before I head back to school in the fall. I'm just glad I'm determined and resilient, othetwise I would have gave up a longtime ago. My health is definitely worth the headaches this whole process has put me through. Good day all.
I've seen Jossart's name around these boards--nothing terrible, if I recall. I don't know much about him. Wishing you well with either plan.

Good luck! I went with Dr. Rabkin in San Francisco. Not sure if you have tried there yet :)

I have not tried him yet... but it is worth the try of looking into it.

When I spoke with his office, they informed me that he perfers to do a two-part surgery for some of his patients. I asked if I preferred one surgery, will he do it. She said I would have to discuss it further with him but she supposed that he would follow the wishes of his patients. So I see how everything unfolds.
I would be very cautious about getting a surgeon that is so far away when you have the option of one who is closer. If you have complications and you have to go into the hospital you won't have your surgeon there to treat you unless you drive the 6 hours to go see him. When I got my band my surgeon was a couple of hours away. I can't tell you how many times I would "just suck up" the pain or discomfort because it was too time consuming to make the drive. My kids were little at the time so it was so inconvenient to have to go see him. As a result I let my complications go for too long before I sought medical attention, this ultimately led to my losing my band. Look at a lot of the posts on here, complications aren't that uncommon. I know finances can be tight but in the long run your health is priceless.

I most definitely took the distance into consideration but I'm pretty positive that I can make it work. I just fe like I have to weigh the pros and cons of this situation. I know that Im desparate for this surgery. As humans we do crazy things in desperation, so I'm trying to think about this objectively. Thank you for your comment, it confirmed what I have been pondering.
I had a two part DS by D. Jossart and he is wonderful! He wanted to do the DS from the beginning but I chose to try the sleeve first. In hind sight, I wish I had listened to him! Regardless, he is an excellent surgeon - both my surgeries were complication free. Like many cutters his bedside is somewhat awkward but I totally trust him. In addition, if you go to CPMC in San Francisco - excellent hospital and the care rocks! Just my 2 cents.
