Starting solid food
I'm not sure "solid foods" is equivalent to a "normal" diet, maybe the start of a normal diet. You may find that denser meats will not allow you to eat 4 oz. right away. It may take some time. I mostly started this phase with chicken, salmon, tuna, and eggs.
If you find it hard to get to your protein goal right away you may need to add a protein shake until things settle down a little more. Remember you are still healing and eating will get a little easier over the next month.
Don't get discouraged. Keep moving forward. After all, now you can eat solids. A big step.
Check out the Vites and Bites posts. It will give you an idea on how people eat. Just consider how long each person has had the DS. It will tell you next to their names.
Incorporate one food at a time at first so you can keep up with what messes your tummy up. I kinda went crazy and just started eating. I had to do an elimination diet at some point because I was on the pot a couple of times for hours.
It is really easy though. Just eat meat.....protein....protein....protein...
I usually eat mostly meat and a bite or two (small bites) of veggies. I stay away from carbs as much as I can but I use MYFitnessPal to help me keep count. Every now and then I eat something like fritos with salsa but I still keep it within my 50g of carb range. I eat two to three times a day and drink three protein shakes. Go look at past Vites and Bites or Bites and vites (cannot remember) posts and you will get an idea.
Yesterday I had
B-protein shake
L- pistachios
S- protein shake, fritos and salsa (bad me, I paid for it with heartburn for hours)
D- creamy parmesan chicken from Applebees. I ate about 1/4 of the chicken...no rice of course
D2- another 1/4 of the left over Creamy Parmesan chicken.
S-protein shake
My carbs stayed around 50 and I was full all day.
SO far today
B- protein shake
S- summer sausage
L- protein shake
The rest to be determined.
Good luck.
