Tired most of the time

Just wondering about others. I'm almost 2 years out and lost 120 lbs, but I'm still having trouble with lack of energy and drive. Seems like I want to sleep a lot more than I used to. My labs look good, and I eat great, but I still seem to lack energy. Anyone else go through this? I do take sublingal and all vitamins, including extra B12 complex, but don't feel like I'm gaining  energy. I also get tired pretty quick.

Any thoughts or Ideas? Thanks in advance. B

10 months out and have the same problem.

I am B12 deficient, as well as slightly anemic, but not enough that it would have this effect.  At least I think anyway.  I usually have to grab a nap at lunch otherwise I'm falling asleep at my desk in the afternoon.  I try to go to bed around 9:00-10:00 and the pup gets me up around 5:30 (I need to figure out how to put a snooze button on her!).  I do have insomnia (up and down all night), but most nights I still get around 4-6 hours.  I'm not tired when I wake up, but it gets worse as the day goes on.

Years ago, I was told my cortisol levels were horked...peaking at night instead of midday like it should and that's what was causing the insomnia.  Tried acupuncture for awhile, didn't help.

Still waiting for all the extra energy and what-not I thought I would have after losing approximately 80 pounds.  What the hell??

Interesting.  So your labs aren't showing anything that is out of alignment.

Do you exercise at all?  Like a 30 minute walk?  Lift weights at all?

How many grams of protein are you getting a day?

Eat a lot of sugar substitutes?

Does your blood work also include thyroid?  More specifically, the more sensitive TSH levels?  If not, you may want to get that checked.  Good luck!

I am a year and a half out and expected I would have more energy/motivation as well. I attribute it to a lower muscle mass. When I was 100 pounds heavier, I was stronger, and things were easier to do. I didnt exercise regularly then, but had the muscle from carrying all that excess weight around. I don't exercise now, either, but know that I need to. My labs, food, etc are all good (except when my iron gets low). My blood pressure has been running pretty low too, and I wonder if that has something to do with a lack of energy.

Bottom line for me though, is the exercise. I KNOW I need to start walking. Hopefully soon now that Michigan is starting to enjoy a little nicer weather.

I am 10mo out and get exhausted pretty easily.  My understanding from my Hema, he likes my B12 to stay in the 1000 range (which is way over the top), but he says as we malabsorb, it's extremely important to us.  I couldn't get mine to stay up with sublingals.  I now do injectible B12 every other week.  It has helped.

You need a prescription, any Dr can give it to you.

Also, you may need to increase your D, if you are on the lower end of the normal D, you may want to increase it for 6 weeks to bring it up.

What are your iron levels? B12?  Zinc? and of course the thyroid panel. I have noticed that the thyroid can go wonky after the DS but I think it has more to do with previously undiagnosed thyroid issues.

The sleep patterns you describe would make me exhausted.  Have you tried anything like melatonin and/or valerian root so that you get better sleep?

I also wanted to ask if you KNOW your levels or is your Dr. office telling you everything is fine?
