Two and a half weeks out and I thought I should start trying to take my vitimans.  Im doing Vitaladys prepackaged three month plan to start.  I was all pumped up to start today.  I got the morning dose in.  It was scarey... I could tell my sleeve was full to the top, with not much room left.  Then about twenty minutes later I took a drink of protien drink, and swallowed...  I was now full, really full, mouth started to water, I knew I was going to throw up, and did, a little bit, the protien drink part, not the vitimans..thank god.  Felt ok.  just pluged up stomach wise.  Pretty soon my stomach started hurting, and I truely dont feel well.  Had to plant my butt on the couch even.  Not onley did the vitimans fill me up, and not leave any room to drink, but they made me feel bad.  I have an hour and a half before the next batch, and Im scared to take them, from the two reasons I listed.  Will it hurt to wait another week and try again?  I feel like these vitimans are going to take up the room in my stomach that I need for protien rich food, and shakes, besides making me feel like crap.....devil  I think it must just be to early for me....

Go slow but take what you can. If you want to see if you're reacting to zinc, just don't take it for a few days and see how you do.Some folks react badly to zinc, so it might be worth it to check things out.

Another thing, when you start the iron go REAL slow. Start with 1 capsule the first week, add anther the second week and work your way up until you're getting the full dose. I tried to take them all the first day and they really made me nauseous.

I had to start super slow...in fact I tried early on and got nauseous. I went very slowly after those first few times and was finally on full regimen by 4 months out.

Here is what I did.

I stopped taking her orange morning pills.  I just put them away.  I bought HEME iron from Colorado Labs.  I took 2 or 3 of those every day.  Much easier on my stomach.

The other three batches I did a process of elimination.  I opened 2 packets of the same batch and laid all the pills out in the same order on the counter.  I started taking one pill every hour.  As I took that pill, I picked up the exact duplicate pill and put it in a paper cup.   Every hour, I take another pill and put the duplicate one in the cup (and putting what's in the cup back into the package).  Then, when I had a reaction (felt sick, threw it up, started drooling, etc.) I knew exactly what pill it was in that packet that made me feel bad.  I went through the remaining 3 packs doing this and figuring out which pills made me sick.

The morning pack of orange pills (iron) and one blue pill made me so sick.  I didn't start taking them again till I was 4 months out, and then I started taking 1 per day, working my way up to more.

Good luck.

My surgeon has all of her patients on Pepcid Complete for the first 30 days, and asks you to start calcium at one week out.  Other than that she does not have you start vitamins until 6 weeks out.  At that time I started the full Vitalady plan, plus biotin and two different types of probiotics a day.

(I started on protein shakes from the beginning using the recommended 30-60-90 rule of 30 grams by 30 days, 60 grams by 60 days, and 90 grams by 90 days.)

The first three times I took iron, it came back up within a few minutes.  devil  Everything else worked fine at 6 weeks out.  I kept trying the iron until it worked... (although my morning business turned from a light tan color to dark gunmetal grey).  By my six-month checkup, my iron levels were elevated enough that my PCP told me to stop taking it altogether.   I will be curious to see what the latest iron test results say after six months of being off of it.

Best wishes to you and don't worry if everything doesn't work at this stage... keep trying and you'll get there.

You came off your iron?!?!?!  Just reduce it, don't come off it entirely.

Not everyone has iron problems.  I have never had to supplement and I have never been low.  Years ago I bought a bottle because so many others were having problems and the iron pills gave me awful diarrhea.  I stopped taking them and figured it wasn't worth it unless I had bad labs.
