My staples are finally out. It feels great! I hope they heal nicey. Tomorrow I start soft foods. Yum! Did any of you eat Taco Bell refried beans? How long till I'm not so sleepy? After I exert myself I fall asleep for about an hour. I'm getting there though and feeling good. I've lost 17 pounds in 2 weeks. Not bad for a lightweight.

Ammmmmazing!  Keep up the good work....  I havent tried refried beans yet, but I have been eating homemade white bean soup that has been exceptionally good.  Thinking about trying cottage cheese tomorro.  Have you tried taking your vitimans yet?  I havent tried, but I think I will give it a few more days, and then try.  Im still crushing all my medication...  remember, I beleive we are surgery buddies.  I had my DS on May 14.

Yes we are ds buddies. I take b12 and probiotics daily. I bought this protein shake from celebrate vitamins that has everything I need in it if I drink 2 a day but I can only manage one. They are shakes with vitamins. I bought vitalady vitamins but I'm not sure when I dare try to swallow all those suckers.

Excellent!  Yes, I ate the cheesy refried beans. Not a lot but some. Hit the spot. Warning: My first craving was for Taco Bell taco salad--this was before they added rice to them.

Wow.  You folks are brave.  I've never tried Taco Bell since the surgery.

Like you, I bought the Vitalady Vitamins, and was scared to start them.  I started with all liquid vitamins, and the liquid iron does yucky things to your teeth.   I finally did start the Vitalady regimen when I was a month out, and they knocked me for a loop for about a week, then my body adjusted.  My doctor also thought that those "horse pills" might be tough on my system, and recommended take them out of the capsules and mix them in food.  I met with my NUT today, and she heartily approved of the mix from Vitaladay, and said I am on top of it.  I probably would have waited to be 6 weeks out - the stomach is pretty sensitive early on.  I still experience some burping from taking so many vitamins at once.  From looking on these forums, though, the Vitalady mix is superior, and as I am about to go for my first post-surgery bloodwork, I am confident I will end with pretty good numbers.

I have been taking vitamins and calcium since my 8th day out of surgery.

I had pintos and cheese from taco bell a week out of surgery and it made me **** like crazy. I tried it again about three weeks out and it was not quite as bad. They were so good.

I tried them about two weeks and and it was like heaven in my mouth since I hadn't eaten a warm meal in over a month! Go for it! BTW I didn't start my vitamins until I was two months out. Every time I tried I was blocked from eating or drinking for hours. NOT GOOD! But im okay now!

I have eaten beans and the combo burrito from Taco Bell since I was switched to soft food. The beans and beef/cheese mixture sure helped me a bunch. It did make me toot some, but that made my stomach feel so much better. I'm closed to 2 years out now, and I still go to Taco Bell at least once every to weeks. It works for me!
