I don't get sick any more

I was amazed to go through the flu season, colds, bronchitis, strep throat, you name it - it was going through our office between December to April.  And I did not catch any of it.  Usually I would get it all, eventually.  But I didn't catch a single bug.

I noticed that my immune system is much better now than before.  Wounds and injuries heal faster.  I don't get infections.  My staph virus (prone to staph infections) has dropped to an all-time low.

I think this is due to 1) eating low carb/no sugar.  Nothing feeds infections/staff/virus' like sugar, and 2) all the vitamins.  And it just dawned on me - I'm no longer Diabetic.

Do you ever get sick anymore?  Are you healing faster, better?

Nope, seems about the same to me.  I had a cough/cold over the winter period that lasted a couple of weeks.  I wasn't overly sickly before, so I guess it depends on your baseline.

I, too, haven't experienced any flu, cold, etc. since having surgery.  Of course, they did make me get a flu shot before surgery, since we were coming into the season, and I had never had one before.  So maybe that's it, but I like to think that it's also one of those NSVs from being healthier, exercising putting good stuff (including vitamins) in my body, and being thinner.  And I'm going tot take all the credit for it and stick to that story :)

I have not been post surgery long enough but I have noticed that my nails and hair are prettier, thicker, longer and healthier. My allergies are better as well. The big thing For me is my painful esophageal spasms are gone since they took the band out. I also do not get the pre diabetic shakes and ills I had before. My swelling in my legs is gone. My joints hurt less. Other than being tired from pooping I feel better than I have in years.

Now that you mention it, my allergies are much better this year also.  Taking vitamins and boosting the immune system will definately help with allergies.

Me too!  And when I do get a cold it's just a minor inconvenience, no big deal!

I have noticed also that I am healthier. My revision from the RNY to the DS took away a lot of the issues I had before. My pouch would go into terrible spasms when I would eat and I had food allergies that have seemed to resolved instead of getting worse. I rarely get sick even tho I am around others who are sick, I have more energy and my joints don't hurt nearly as bad as they used to. So lots of good things have come about because of my DS.

I think it's all the vitamins we take, and the forced diet we eat.  We can't eat crap, or the SAD diet, any more or face some discomfort.

Funny how a malabsorbtion surgery has boosted my immune system so much.
