Lactaid Milk?

I bought some Lactaid Milk today. I am so stupid I did not look at the label because I was just so excited to have some milk I might be able to drink. I was told to get Lactose free milk. So I get it home and mix it with my fuzzy navel nectar for a spectacular dream cycle type shake. OMG it is so good. THen when I added it to MyFitnessPal it popped up with 12 sugars and 13 carbs per 8ounces. O.O.

I hope to GOD I do not pay for this tonight or tomorrow. Anyone else have poopy issues with Lactaid. Is that way to many sugars and carbs? (I know it is)  I am skeered now. I dunna wanna be stuck on the toilet tomorrow. I have an appointment with a patient at 11am.

Oh ****literally.

I use it in my shakes without issue.  What makes it "lactose free" is the milk has lactase enzyme added to it to aid digestion.  I use it because the various fake milks usually have much less protein, and sometimes even more carbs than the Lactaid does.

Lactaid is what my surgeon's dietitian recommends for new post-ops. I didn't stay lactose intolerant long and I hope it works that way for you.

If you can find Hood's calorie count down, give it a try. It's low carb but you might have to add your own probiotic to use it at first. The good news is, later on, you can switch to equal parts heavy whipping cream and water.

I am still lactose intolerant of drinking milk...

Early on, I also added a lactaid pill: http://www.digestiveadvantage.com/shop-products/lactose-defe nse-formula/digestive-advantage-lactose-defense-formula-32-c ount

I took that for about the first year.

And to put the lactaid milk in perspective: REGULAR milk also has 12 grams of sugar for 8 ounces. And that is from the label currently in the fridge (My dh can drink it easily even with a DS...the BRAT wink) Milk naturally has sugar in it...it's sugar, yes, but not the same as table sugar.

If that doesn't work out so good for you try Kroger brand CarbMasters milk. Lactose free and low carb. It's proprietary to Kroger but not very expensive and very good tasting. I've switched from almond milk etc cause it has better nutrition stats:

3G carbs sadly the 3 are sugar carbs...
11 G protein
60 cals

Per 8oz serving
