five months out... still having bowel issues
I’ve been plagued with diarrhea since I got my DS. I used to run for the bathroom, pushing people and the dog out of the way to get there in time. This constant diarrhea gave me a fissure, which made the whole thing 10 times worse. I feel for you. I know how hard it is to make plans when you worry if you can make the drive/event without crapping your pants. I do carry a change of clothes, a Hefty garbage bag and wet wipes in my car – just in case. I have crapped myself while driving, so I have a beach towel in the driver’s seat (which I can toss into the Hefty bag should something happen).
Eat yogurt with live culture every day. I eat Greek yogurt every day, and it does help with this issue. I also do a probiotic.
Your diet is good. I eat frozen veggies - and not much of them. I eat a salad on occasion/a treat. Not regularly because the lettuce does give me problems if I eat a lot of it.
Start taking Imodium, one pill at a time. I also use Pepto Bismal. Cut the salads out, and eat yogurt instead. See if things don’t balance out quickly. If they don’t, then you definitely need to see your doctor for flagyl. And if you see what looks like snot in your stools, you need flagyl.
I have to admit, I never knew diarrhea could be so tiring. Once I got a handle on it, I felt 100% better and my energy increased.
OMG YOU are so right Jashley. I am so exhausted from Pooping in the morning that it is hard to go to work. I never knew that pooping could take so much energy. I am up at 4 am and on the toilet for an hour with soft to runny stool. THen again at around 7 for about 30 minutes and again at 8 for about 30 minutes. When I get home about 3pm I go again. Sometime again before bed. I am going to have to try the Immodium. I eat Greek yogurt and take probiotics. My poop does not have any weird looking froth or infection to it. So tired of pooping already only 4 weeks out. I am fortunate that I can hold it though for a little while if need be.
I tried protein shakes at 3 months with horrible results. I have one protein bar in the morning.
You really need to try an elimination diet. I would start with the protein shakes. Substitute extra chicken or meat, etc for a few days and see if things change. Get rid of the salad. Heck, eliminate all veggies for a few days.
Personally, I have found that my trips to the bathroom are always due to the foods I eat. You are still early enough in where things are still changing. It does get better. Good luck!
