Day 4 DS surgery with Dr. Aceves
Feeling better each day Im here in Mexicali. Dr. Aceves, and Dr. Campos, and staff have been wonderful. My experiance has been a good one. Im not going to lye, the first couple of days were tough for me, but I can tell a big difference everyday. I schedualed to stay four days longer, and now I wish I wouldnt have. I can tell that everything is fine, and wish I could just go home. I tried to reschedual my flight, but it wasnt in the cards. It would have cost me sevenhundred dollars to come home on Sunday. So Im here til thursday......

I my DS
I am so glad to hear that you are feeling better! I am scheduled for a gastric sleeve to DS revision with Dr. Aceves on May 29. I am 5'2 and was able to get to 153lbs (BMI 28) with the sleeve but it's not enough. I'm still prediabetic and need a revision. I spoke with Dr. Aceves over the phone and want him to take the maximum amount of common limb out but he is concerned with my low BMI. He did say I am a candidate for the surgery. I'm just worried that he'll be overly cautious and not take out enough for proper malabsorption and I will not reach my goal of 115-120 and greatly eliminate my chances of getting diabetes/heart disease.
Like most people, I only planned on having WLS once and I hope this revision to DS will get me to the place I need to be and stay there!
What's your BMI? Did he tell you how much of the common limb he removed?
Also scared about having surgery in Mexico--is there anything I should know in advance?
Thanks so much!!!
You are in such good hands, and you will know that right away. With him and Dr. Campos both. He wanted to give me a 125 common channel, but I opted for 100 because of my research. I need to loose 200lbs. He also gave me a 130 almentery limb. and used a 38 french bougie for my sleeve. He wanted a little larger on that also, but I knew I wanted that restriction. The first couple of days were pretty rough, felt like they cut up all my insides, and threw them back in. He is truely a careing Dr. and is considered one of the top 25 barriatric surgeons in the world. The hospital treats you like a queen, "or king". and the cleaning ladies clean three times a day. After awhile it became a little overboard, so we just let them clean once a day.Your in good hands for sure. No worries. I researched him since last Sept, and all I found was positve. I have no regrets. I got released today from the hospital, to the Lucerna hotel. We decided to stay 4 extra days to make sure things were fine before we went home.....
