Upcoming DS Surgery Dates!
Hello
my surgery is scheduled for 12/17/2013 with Dr. Daniel Cottam, Salt Lake City, Utah. I would like to be able to have support especially from someone so close to my surgery, your a day earlier than mine. I live in Nevada but traveling to Utah that morning of 12/16/2013. I will be keeping you in prayer. I'm having a hard time letting go of old habits, I'm on the pre-op liquid diet and all I can think of is food, I'm realizing even more how much my life revolved around eating. How are you doing?
I'd love to have you as a support buddy!
Fortunately for me, my surgeon/hospital is much closer - about an hour or more away.
I'm six days into my pre-op diet, and so far so good. My surgeon doesn't utilize a purely liquid pre-op diet, though. Each day I need to get in 4 oz protein, 4 oz fruit, 4 oz veggies, and 8 oz dairy - all making up three meals. Then, twice a day I have a protein in shake. I'm not sure if going all liquid would be better or worse than what I've got. Perhaps it's easier to not eat solid food at all, rather than having it 2 or 3 ounces at a time.
I'm also thinking a lot about food - especially carby food. Sometimes I SWEAR I smell cookies baking! :) I also realized that I've tied many of my behaviors to eating - like reading & eating, watching TV & eating...
Tomorrow AM is my pre-op appointment. Since I've already done a full 3 hour nutrition class, and met with a nutritionist, I have no idea what they'll be doing with me tomorrow. Maybe advance labwork? Guess I'll find out when I get there!
I'll be keeping YOU in my thoughts/prayers as well. If you want to contact me directly, please feel free to email me at [email protected].
Yours,
Deborah

Hello Wildflower,
I have an appointment Wednesday 3-19-14 at the Salt Lake Clinic for all my tests and my first meeting with Dr. Cottam. Two of my co-workers and very good friends both had their surgery done by him and have had excellent results. I'm so excited and can't wait for a new lease on life. I am 59 yrs. old and want to start living again. I hope your experience has been all that you had hoped for, and more. Best regards, Debbie
