DR. DAVID GREENBAUM FOR TUMMY TUCK?
on 5/10/13 3:07 am
I used my DS surgeon for my tummy tuck. I am BEGGING you to reconsider!!! I am not only lopsided but, have a horrible scar. Our DS surgeons do surgery, NOT plastics. If I had to do it all over again, I would never EVER have let him do it. I paid him to do it too. No, I will not let him redo it. I will live with my mistake.

I most likely will be using Dr. David Greenbaum for a tummy tuck, but I would like to hear from others who have used him for this as well. How did it go? Where you happy with the results? thanks much! (Would also like to know the recovery time for this.)
Question...would you have let a plastic surgeon do your DS? I rest my case.
Surgeons are NOT skilled in every aspect of surgery. I would never go to any but the MOST reputable plastic surgeon I could find after extensive research.

Completely on point and deftly stated so well.
In general, I might be comfortable with a DS surgeon experienced at doing panniculectomies- SP? (A procedure that ONLY removes excess fat and loose skin from the abdomen) It's pretty straight forward from a general surgery standpoint, but quite different from a full tummy tuck (Abdominoplasty), where in addition to the former, the underlying abdominal musculature is sutured and tightened to achieve a more desired and appropriate abdominal contour. (No small matter from a cosmetic standpoint, especially over time).
Additionally, the OP might want to ask about her umbilicus (belly-button) being preserved or reconstructed should that need to be removed with either procedure. No small issue for many women and some men, but even board certified plastic surgeons doing the full tummy tuck don't address this well when faced with massive amounts of tissue and fat removal.

it is a personal decision, but I would not use a general surgeon for a plastic surgery procedure. when picking a surgeon look for ASPRS, plastic surgeons have much more training than a general surgeon specifically for reconstruction, a general surgeon is a great surgeon, but plasics they are not....please reconsider...good luck with your search
NOOOOOOOO!
Plastic surgery is, at minimum, an additional 2 year fellowship following a 5 year general surgery residency. That's two years spent solely doing plastic surgery and learning the skills to be a good surgeon.
No way, no how, does a bariatric surgeon have those same skills unless he completed an additional fellowship (which I doubt.) He may have taken a course, or done a month shadowing a plastic surgeon, but I'm pretty sure he didn't leave his bariatric surgery practice and concentrate solely on plastics.
Let a bariatric surgeon take out your appendix or gallbladder? Sure...all part of their GS residency... but plastics? Nope.
Go to a plastic surgeon. You will have a better result.
Lap-Band June 14, 2001. Dr. Rumbaut, Monterrey, Mexico.
Lap-Band removed after 7 years and converted to Sleeve Gastrectomy on July 7, 2008 by Dr. Roslin. I've had three happy healthy Lap-Band babies.... and one VSG baby. 5 years out from revision to VSG. Gained 55 pounds in past 5 months, now considering DS. :(
I just want to say that Dr G is also my doctor and I asked him about plastic surgery and yes he agreed that he could do it but also told me point blank that it wouldn't be very pretty like the plastic surgeons could do. Keep that in mind. I was dead set about using him for tummy tuck but he more less talked me right out of it. Please go to plastic surgeon and get an opinion and then make your choice.
