Sensible Strontim Dosage?
I've been prescribed 2g strontium sachets which dissolve in water. Is that a sensible dose for us? The brand I've been prescribed is Protelos and it's the only one available in the UK.
If anyone's curious there's some info on it here http://www.medicines.org.uk/guides/protelos/osteoporosis%20( after%20menopause)
Thanks

I don't know of any guidelines on strontium, but I've ordered several different brands, and the dosage is usually 680 mg day, delivered in two capsules. These are not specifically DSers doses, so no idea if we absorb as much as is intended with those doses, but I'm leery to take more than the directions say since there is so little info on how much if any strontium should be taken.
I'm hoping someone who knows more will pop in and share.
In the article that JG supplied the link to it says "2 gm/day of strontium ranelate (providing 680 mg strontium)". Mine is strontium ranelate so I guess it supplies 680mg of strontium - I checked the leaflet with it and it doesn't specify, but they wouldn't overdose normies especially as it's the only strontium available here.

Interesting tidbit in here about the dosage used in a 1981 study of Strontium Gluconate....

Great article, thanks - I think I'm going to have to read several times to absorb everything as there's a lot in there. I've bookmarked it for future reference.
