I know that in the begining, after surgery, we will be sipping all the time, but will there ever be a time when we can take a regular drink like everyone else?   Or even if we get really thirsty, be able to chug a drink down????   Im someone that always has had a

glass of something beside me all day, and the thought of not ever being able to drink like i do now is a little disturbing, but I want to know the truth.......

It's going to take some time, but chugging does become possible.

I can drink like I used to.  As you get futher out, you can eat and drink just like you did before.  Not as much total quantity, but the same bite and swallow size.

Yep, I can drink a big tall drink when I am thirsty. I drink everything, from water to soda to lemonade to the occasional alcoholic beverage. I didn't realize this about myself, but I must drink while I eat. I take a bite of something, then take a sip, bite, then sip. I would never make it as a RNY-er on that basis alone!

I had the kick-butt duodenal switch (DS)!

To be contrary, since it seems I always am the odd one out ... I can't chug a drink. I drink small drinks through straws (rarely without one) and have a difficult time drinking a lot at once. I'm not at post-op "sip" but I can only do an ounce or two at once.
