salad?
Just wondering if it is ok to eat a salad?, I am a month out my salads usually contain lettuce, carrot, cucumber, chicken, ham, cheese and bacon along with dressing. I know I would have to portion it out since I still can't eat alot (1 month out from surgery) but just have a hankering for a salad. LOL

I remember missing salads at first also. I ate so many of them before the surgery, trying to lose weight and all... Ha! Those were the days.
I would be careful eating raw veggies at one month out. I would cook the carrot. And oil of any type made me sick at that stage - so ranch dressing might be best. You could try it and see if it doesn't cause pain, or comes back up.
I ate a small salad today with tomato, feta cheese, red onion, and a little bell pepper. I lOVE and have really missed my mediterainian(sp) salads and used balsamic vinegar and olive oil for dressing. It was so good even tho I could eat very little. HOWEVER I had gas so bad and still do even hours later so something did not agree with me. I don't think it was the tomatoes or feta cheese but maybe the onion or bell pepper?( I am 5 weeks out)
I too was craving salad. I don't remember how long after my surgery when I ate salad....but I do know it was before they said I could eat raw veggies and I felt like I was going to die. I swear I didn't think I would make it through the night. So it took a long time before I got over the fear of salad. Now I can eat it and normally I'm fine with it, but sometimes I have bad BM's afterwards. I think it depends on the kind of lettuce but I havent tracked it to see which lettuce gives me problems. Good luck!!!
Hi - I'm five weeks out and my surgical team said I couldn't touch raw vegetables until 6-8 weeks out. (I assume I'll get the next Phase diet in my next follow-up in 2 weeks with the ok for raw vegetables.) I miss salad as well - so I cannot wait to (slowly) try raw veggies again!!
