Subway Subs

I don't get on the forums much anymore. But I just had to come back and share this. Yesterday I went to Subway for the first time since surgery. I got a 6" BMT on italian herb and cheese bread with provolone cheese. YUM! Since this is a rare treat, I decided that I was going to eat the bread. I cut that 6" sub into thirds and ate it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! 2 whole inches of sub filled me up each time. And I was stuffed each time.
My brain has still not caught up with the size of my stomach and I frequently put way too much food on my plate. But this was such a wake up call because before surgery I would have ate a 6" sub, a bag of chips, a Coke and still have room for more.
My surgeon gave me a smaller sleeve and longer common channel (which so far I am very happy with) so I just thought I would share for the newbies wondering how much some of us can eat in one sitting. I'm sure over time it will increase more...but for now I will be thankful for my tiny tummy :)

I do not know my bougie size. All I know is that in his words he gave me "a very tight sleeve". My common channel length is about 125cm which is slightly longer than the 100cm that seems to be most common now. I actually requested the longer common channel and had to convince him why I wanted it to be longer.
I am NOT advocating any certain configuration of the DS because there is just no one-size-fits-all approach. And I think what you put in your mouth and how much you exercise is WAY more important than the specifics of how many ounces your stomach can hold or how long your common channel is. I have a tiny tummy, but if I chose to fill it with ice cream and candy bars and never got off the couch, it wouldn't be any better than someone with a larger sleeve that makes good choices. But so far, I am very happy with what I have.

Hi,
Thanks for sharing, I think Dr Kemmeter over all does small sleeves I doubt I could eat 2 inches of a subway if I wanted to. I had him leave my common channel at 100 we talked about 125 or 150 but like you said with the small sleeve I doubt the common channel makes that much of a difference. I basically live on protein drinks if I eat its usually a piece of lunch meat with a piece of cheese and I'm lucky to get that down once a day but i'm sure it will change to some degree. I just noticed we had surgery about the same time. Thanks for sharing!

Hi, do you know what size bougie he used for you? lol, I ask this of everyone, still researching for my surgery next month. I tend to want smaller because I know myself, and want that retention years down the line. I know my surgeon is the type that will listen to me. I also will be asking for a 100, I have alot to loose, and want to make goal.......

It's a tube they put down your throat and into your stomach that helps guide them when making your sleeve. They then staple your stomach along the line that the tube creates in your stomach to make a banana-shaped stomach.
