Post Op Update
I am 6 days post op. The biggest problem is being tired from not having very many calories. I am getting fluids in okay but not much protein. Having a hard time getting protein shakes down, bleh, too sweet. I have always loved protein shakes but not now. You guys were not lying about your taste changing. I am so sick of sweetened protein shakes. Makes me want to gag. I AM CRAVING eggs with butter and cream of wheat with butter and no sugar. Craving tuna and bacon. I cannot wait until Thursday so I can eat eggs and tuna.
First couple of days were a miserable nightmare. Then it got easier. I think the biggest problem is pooping. I am having about 4-6 runny to soft stools in a 24 hour period. There is no set time that they hit me either. Just anytime. I am getting about 30 ounces of fluids in a day. It is safe to say I am not getting dehydrated. I had to work my way up to that and I will eventually hit 64 ounces.
I have tried a couple of bites of greek yogurt and handled it okay. I tried some thinned down cream of wheat with butter and half and half and took a couple of small bites of that. Popsicles at times. Today, I am going to try some V8. Taking a shower wears me out and I sleep an hour or so after. I try and walk every hour but that does not always happen. Depends on how much I do. I wake up in the middle of the night and sip water.
I have only taken pain meds twice. The first day I came home and then last night. I was MISERABLE yesterday. I did way to much. Took a shower, walked, had company for two hours so I sat up and talked. by night I thought I was dying so I finally opted to take some Lortab. I got my first night of real sleep. 8 hours straight without having to poop. I did wake a couple of times to drink but pretty much slept really well. I feel better today. This is my first day up to the computer since the day I came home. OH, I also slept on my side in my bed for an hour yesterday. That is something I will only be able to do in moderation and when my son is around to pull me up.
My days are made up of drinking, pooping, trying to get shakes in, walking and naps. I hope the poop situation gets better before I go back to work. I know it will over time but I go back to work in ten days. =/

Glad to hear you are doing well!!. I am still working on some of the soft foods- I have a hard time keeping some things down that are more dense. I love eggs but they don't stay down very well. I seem to manage getting in about 48 ounces of water and around 50-60 grams of protein so you are doing awesome. Take it one day at a time. The time will pass quickly and before you know it you'll be one of the ones teaching others what to do!! And 13 lbs is great!
