Probiotic Supplements instead of Greek Yogurt?

I'm trying to make all the changes to my lifestyle before surgery, so afterwards won't be as big as a shock. I've tried nearly all of the Greek yogurts. The only ones I like have the fruit in the bottom. Since those are added sugar, they're a no go. Is it ok to use probiotic supplements in place of Greek yogurt? Does it give the same result of GI regulation?

I use a probiotic everyday. I eat Greek yogurt because I like it and I can get my protein. Bu****ch out as some Greek yogurts don't have as much protein as others. You can sweeten it with sugar free jam. I like it savory with cucumbers, olives or what ever. Look up tzadziki salad. there are lots of variations. Greeks don't use sour cream. I don't like very much garlic.

Anyhow, probiotics seem to help with my digestion. You should start them now, in my opinion, because they can give you a bit of stomach distress at first-maybe gas until your system adjusts.

I take two different probiotics daily. Florajen3 for my multi-strain and then I take S-Boulardii separately to prevent c-diff.

I do eat greek yogurt and love it but like you, I'm the fruit included type. I eat Chobani or Fage.

I am a newbie so this is just my impressions from lurking on the site.

I guess the issue is why are you taking the yogurt. Mostly, I think people take it to get the extra protein
with the intestinal boost an added plus not as a serious replacement for probiotics. ( Others, please
correct me if you think I have this wrong).

I'm not sure why the fruit on the bottom is a problem as long as the overall sweetener and calorie content
are kept low. I have tried the yoplait 100 cal with fruit on the bottom and that seemed to go OK.

One of the problems with fruit on the bottom is fruit is pure sugar/carbs and we absorb 100% of the carbs we eat. Not always conducive for weight loss. Also fruit-sugar-carbs can start a craving for more sugar for those that are addicted/sensitive to sugar/carbs.
