DS surgeons in Houston

it's not unusual to travel for a good DS surgeon. Four hours is easily manageable, I travelled 10 hours by car and stayed in a hotel for close to two weeks for mine. Many have flown internationally to seek out their surgeon. This small investment of time will pay off immensely with fewer complications or problems than going with a surgeon that can't do the job.
I can't provide any advice on which doctor as I don't know either that you mention, but my advice is to not let a four hour drive send you in the wrong direction LOL
I would rather make the trip to Denton and Dr. Stewart. He's one of the best (IMO). If you have trouble reaching the office as a pre-op I would be real concerned about getting ahold of them post op and in trouble. Even though Dr. Stewart didnt do my DS he has fixed my internal hernia...and I'm in a Houston suburb. If you would like to talk send me a PM

Garth Davis did mine in Houston. He's not vetted, but did a great job. I had been sleeved in 2007 so all that was left to do was the intestinal switch. Only issue I had was that he really pushes a vegetarian lifestyle post-op which really isn't realistic for us DSers. I'm 5 hours away from Houston and was happy to make the drive.
Thank you for your reply. I'll look into Dr. Davis. Side note: Vegetarianism would definitely be a no-go for me. :)
I called Dr. Wilson's office today on the second webpage that Gina posted. Turned out the info that was on the ds info site is outdated. Anyway, they were very helpful and I'm scheduled for the seminar this Wednesday. Since he's vetted from that site, I feel pretty good about it. But if I get bad vibes, I'll see what I can arrange to see Dr. Stewart.Ordinarily, I wouldn't mind doing the whole 4 hour drive thing, but the a/c is out in my car and we really can't afford to stay in a hotel. Not to mention, my hubby doesn't have enough leave time for that. It's just better all around if I can find a good doc here in Houston.
I and one of my friends have both had wonderful experiences with Dr. Felix Spiegel. Experiences really do vary from person to person. People rave about Dr. Stewart, and I'm sure he's a wonderful surgeon, but I had such a bad experience with his office staff that I decided against using him. Also, I wasn't pleased with my over-the-phone consult with him either. Most of the conversation was about money when I was more interested in the surgery itself. Again, it's all about individual experience. I consulted with several surgeons and found that Dr. Spiegel was the best for me.
