I thought Crystal light was going to be safe for me. Is it????
I have always been someone that has to have something to drink right next to them all of the time, "even in the car". I dont like coffie. It used to be a pop, but for the past six years its mostly been watered down Kool-Aid. Knowing Im going to have my surgery next month I have switched to Crystal Light to get used to surger free drinks. I found, I love it, totally cool, Im safe. I even bought a whole bunck and took it over to her house so I have it on hand when I visit... I found my drink. Yesterday, I found out on this site that, that is not a good thing "Crystal Light". Now I dont know what to do. I have tried drinking water, its ok for a day, but for the rest of my life! After awhile it leaves a weird feel in my mouth... NOW WHAT??? What do all of you drink, that you can drink FREELY all day. Please dont suggest coffie, cause it isnt going to happen. This might not seem like a big bump in the road to some, but to me it is....worried.... Your thoughts PLEASE

Crystal Light is fine, as far as being a low carb option. Some people have issues with artificial sweeteners either with the reports of long term illness risk, or specifically for DSers, the potential for some gastric distress. Too much can cause diarrhea and bloating and gas for normies, but can really have a toll on us. This is a YMMV thing. I dont have an issue with artificial sweeteners.
As for what I drink- coffee, green or herbal teas, diet soda, diet Snapple tea or juice, sugar free energy drinks (Monster is my fave, but I limit these to like two a week, MAX), Mio or Crystal Light, flavored waters (the fizzy ones with no carbs), water I steep with fruit/veggies, water, diet tonic water, etc.

I was never told that. Thats a RNY "rule". I've been drinking diet soda since about 6 months out. I had to let it fizz out quite a bit at first, and even now, i cant gulp it (it HURTS and will come back up if I do), but I can sip on it all I want. Even with a sleeve, it isnt an issue- you still have a FULLY FUNCTIONAL stomach, its just, smaller.
Crystal Light is my "go to" drink. I take it to work and drink at least 64 oz there. I have been drinking it for 2 years since surgery and no problems. I can't seem to drink plain water anymore as it feels too heavy in my stomach. That is all I used to drink prior to surgery. All you can do is try it after surgery and see how you make out.

Thanks to you both for your quick answers. I see that it is one of those things where everyone is different and can tolerate different things. I was concerned with a post I read yesterday, where someone was concerned that they had quit loosing weight, and posted what they ate everyday, and a few other posted that it could be the artificial sweeteners that was causing it. I didnt know that was possible. Im a heavy weight, and have at least two hundred pounds to loose, and did want anything to interfere with that. Thanks again....

I'm a heavyweight too - with 300 pounds to lose (gosh, that sounds horrifying) and I drink Crystal Light all day with no problems. I've lost 115 pounds in about 5-1/2 months, so I can't say I've noticed that it's stopping me from losing. I figure anything that gets liquid in (other than soda) is a good thing!!!
before wls i loved and drank crystal light every day. now, i can't do more that 1/2 c - 1 c at a time, or i become very very ill. the worst part is the next morning getting the 'foamies". not my idea of a grand party. so, yes. ymmv.
