Hematologist Appointment Kinda nervous...

Well after what felt like a million calls, I finally found a hematologist that accepts my insurance and can get me in rather quickly! And what even surprised me was when I told the very sweet lady on the phone that I had bariatric surgery she asked for my surgeons name and contact info so she could get my medical records from them. So they could not only see my lab results but also my surgery type. I must say this is the very first Dr's office ever in the history of my DS that has showed any interest in my surgery type and how it works. I was sort of shocked.

Here's to hoping that if this Dr. has not heard of the DS that he is at least open to the fact that I absorb things very differently. I have found a few Dr's that write me off as "gastric Bypass" and that's the end of it.

I am nervous as to what to expect. Anyone have any experience with a hematologist?? And what I should expect at my appointment? I am sure I should be prepared to explain why I absorb certain types of Iron better than others and what they are.

Sounds like you may have gotten hold of a good one.  Yeah!!  I don't have any personal experience so I'll wish you all the best and ask you to keep us posted.  :-)
