Well spent yesterday in the ER because i passed out at work. Nurse at work thought it was because of my Iron. (after I told her how low it was) Well the ER gave me a bag of IV fluid told me to take an Iron supplement and follow up with my Dr. LOL! No kidding! I was so upset and of course feeling like well plain CRUD I made a scene crying and all. Because no one wanted to hear about my DS or the fact that I Was anemic. The ER dr. said my HGB was not to bad at 8.4. This afternoon My labs results finally came after a month!

Good for posting your labs but you also need to post exactly what your supplement schedule is like so the lab experts will know where to start.

Also I think it cut off and didn't show all your labs.

Good luck!

Get thee to a hematologist STAT!  No wonder you feel like crud.  You need IV Iron Infusions, like yesterday!

I agree with getting to a hematologist ASAP. You may be one of those folks that just can't absorb iron supplements no matter how much you take, or your levels are so low that supplements aren't touching them.  You want your iron serum between 80- and 100, ferritin around 200 or better, hematocrit better than 36 and hemoglobin better than 12.

Get that protein up, if you have to, drink 4 - 6 protein shakes a day. Increase your calcium citrate to 3600mg a day, yeah it's a lot of calcium, but your high PTH indicates your bones are suffering.  You want that number to be around 26. To lower it, increase your calcium and magnesium citrate. 3600mg a day is 12 capsules and I have to take 2 of those dose as 900mg doses or I'll never get them all in in a day. Otherwise, 2 capsules for 600mg.

Your vitamins and minerals may be having trouble absorbing because your protein is low. Once you get that up, the vitamin levels should follow. You want your protein serum close to 7, albumin in the 4s and prealbumin near the top of the range.

If you've only been on Vitalady's full plan for a few months, give it time, but take the full plan and increase protein shake to bring up the protein. Keep us posted about the hematologist. Good luck.

Thank you Gina!! I've been on Vita lady since 3 weeks after surgery. All was GREAT until I had and unexpected pregnancy, was unable to keep Vitamins down at all. And then literally got out of my routine once that passed. Just kicked myself in the Butt because I KNOW better. So  a combination of pregnancy induced anemia and plain old neglect has put me here. I Appreciate your  advice so much! And I will be tweaking, and calling a hematologist. Thank you!!

You are pregnant?  And they didn't refer you to a hematologist?  Do you have a high risk OB?  Now I am really worried.

I think she said she was pregnant  and that she couldn't keep vitamins down (past tense). I can relate. Anyway, she's back and getting things turned around now.   : )
