Hi All

Just wondering how long after surgery was it before you could sleep in your own bed again?

The night I got home from the hospital...I didn't sleep elsewhere!

I DID have to sleep with a pillow over my stomach to keep the cats from sleeping on there but from the very first day..

My DH also slept in the bed from the day he left the hospital.

4 nights in hospital and then I slept in a regular bed after that. I has to sleep on my back - I'd always slept on my front before that.

Hi michele

Dr.g did open on you, not lap right. Feeling like massive muscle ache everywhere... It get easier I was on the couch for a week after I got home, then my bed, but with pillows propping me up a bit. I also had a pillow next to me so my bf would not rollover on me (kinda like how people do with infants)

I had my surgery 3 weeks ago tomorrow and i still can't sleep in my bed. I tried several nights ago but just too much pain from my left side. Oddly I can't sleep on my right side because it makes my left side hurt but I can sleep for a bit on my left side. I hate sleeping on my back so will be glad when I can finally at least sleep on my side for a longer period of time. Good luck!

That may be part of why it didn't bother me...I've slept on my back since I had back surgery back in 2006 and no longer had the option of side or front. I am JUST this year able to sleep on my side...and I am 7 years out from the back surgery.

I am renting a recliner for the first month. I cannot sleep on my back due to it being in such bad condition. I normally sleep on my right side. I also have a memory foam bed so my weight makes me sink into it. I would hate to give myself a hernia trying to get out of bed. It is hard for me to get up as it is now. So, I will be chilling in a recliner for a while. Going to look for one this weekend.

It took me almost six weeks before I was comfortable laying in bed; slept in the recliner.  After a month I would try almost every night but it just wasn't comfortable - it felt like my insides were "pulling" and it eventually became a bit painful.  So, I stayed in the recliner until suddenly I could lay down without any discomfort.
