Protein Info
Protein Needs
The Institute of Medicine recommends a minimum of .8 g of protein per kilogram of body weight. If you weigh 150 lbs., you weigh about 68 kg and need at least 54 g of protein per day.
Sunshine thought process, since a regular person should have 54 grams per day, a ds would probably need double the recommended amount.

Exactly...DSer's only absorb 50-60 percent of protein consumed, according to the brainiacs (scientists, doctors, NUTS). I once had a NUT tell me I was going to ruin my kidneys with so much protein, until I explained DS absorption to her. This was a NUT in my own program, when I was early out.
The binder we get from our program explains all that, but apparently, they didn't focus on teaching the NUTS until we DSer's piped up about the wrong info that we were getting. We were being counseled like RNY's.
Another reason to do your own reading and research when you're having the DS.
