having second thoughts please help me

Gary,  My DS cured my diabetes.  I consider it a miracle.  And no depression here, lots more happiness!  My only concern is that I have not heard of your surgeon.  You might want to make a post asking about him/her....

I would research that surgeon VERY CAREFULLY.

I fought insurance co's and other issues to get my DS. I don't regret a single thing. Get it done, and enjoy the new healthy life it can give you.

 Although I am not a diabetic...I am a nurse and did you say 1500 Units a DAY of insulin???? 

I was worried about the depression, leaks, dying, etc. There is a bout of depression I felt a few weeks out of surgery.....probably didn't help sitting there like a lump on a log but your insides are changed and there has to be hormonal changes as well. After week 5 post op I have felt great. Its been 10 weeks now and I have so much more energy, and I feel great about this whole thing. I wish I had this done 10 years ago! Good luck!

My insulin cost my insruance co 7500 a month. Thats why i keep gaining wieght.

I went on a fast last week for 2 days and my sugar level was 480 !

As a nurse......if I had this problem......I wouldn't even hesitate with the DS. If I weighed at a normal BMI...I would still do it. I see too many patients who have uncontrollable diabetes ......is that with Levemir?  this is more of life threatening at this number.....don't be having second thoughts honey....this will save your life. 

Its not Levemir it is an Humilin R U-500 insulin. It is 5x stronger than Regular Humilin R

Yep.....I would have no second thoughts. Your life will change for the better.

Hi again Gary! I received my approval already and have my appointment with Dr. Chu on Thurs to sign consent and get my surgery date. Ill let you know what it is, so we can compare. Good luck with your approval.
