Just about 3 years out, scheduled for plastics- stopping by to say "Hi"

Just a quick pop in to say hello. I'll be 3 years out from my DS in May. I'm scheduled for round one of plastics on April 23rd (for a lower body lift). I'm doing really really well! No vitamin deficiencies (seriously, TAKE YOUR VITAMINS!), no major complications at this point. I do still have some GERD issues that flare every now and again, so I just go back on Nexium for a bit, then come back off it when things resolve. No real food intolerances. Ive leared what sets me off, and I either dont eat it, TIVO it, or eat it and know the consequences. Ive never had any awful moments of embarrassment or anything like that.
I had a bit of a regain that I am working off. I rebounded the typical 10% and leveled out at 163ish. I stayed at that weight for a good year +. Then, I suffered a bad injury last summer, which laid me up for about 5 months. I HAD been training for a triathlon and doing distance trail runs until that point, which kept me in great shape and allowed me to eat whatever I wanted.... Well. Once I got hurt, the exercise stopped, but the willy nilly eating did not. I put on 15lbs very quickly. The worst part though, is that I lost muscle mass even faster, and went from toned to flabby in 2 seconds flat. THATS the part that I hate the most. Im back to working out 5-6 days a week and hitting my stride again. Im rebuilding muscle, but its slow going on that front it seems. Im down 8lbs in about a month. I know that number isnt "huge" but since Im building muslce while losing weight, Ive been stair stepping down. I will say, its a LOT easier to lose weight again after my DS than it ever was before. All I have to do is cut my carbs and be active to some degree and it just drops off. The more I cut carbs, the more active I am- the faster it goes. Ive even seen 1-2lb losses a day, at almost 3 years post op (reminds me of my early out days).
Anyway- all that said to say... I am still so thankful I made the decision to have the DS. The vitamins are a pain & expensive, the labwork sucks (its always such a process for me..), the gas can be horrendous (but can be VERY easily controlled), and you kinda have to plan around your normal poo schedule- but I wouldnt choose any other way! I still big puffy heart my DS and the new healthy life it has given me. AAnd being able to eat a pound of bacon a day is a pretty nice perk too :P
Hope everyone is well! If you are considering the DS- dont consider it, DO IT. It truly is an amazing surgery and it WILL save your life!
Hi!! Miss you around here, Bean.

We can be "misery buddies", lol. I go for round 2 plastics on the 22nd! I did the lbl and thighs and butt implants the first go around, and won't lie - that was a painful mess to muddle through, so have good pain meds on board.
Wonderful update, and good luck on the plastics. If I'm conscious, I'll be thinking good thoughts for you!
