I was approved today!!! Ysy!!! I'm nervous about recovery with my 2 year old daughter. My husband works nights so that shift is all mine if anything arises.

Just do not pick her up for at least 6 weeks after surgery or you could be back in the hospital. Hernias suck.

My husband too works nights. The first 4-5 days suc****il you get you JP tube out. I have 2 1/2 year old twins I am 8 days out. I can change them make them food and play with them as long as I don't pick them up. I have them sit on the couch or coffee table and that's how I change their diapers. It is hard at first but it gets easier

I have a 2 & 3 year old.  My husband was with me for the first week after surgery, but in the 2nd week....they were all mine.  I did hire a baby sitter from Care.com to come in to get my 2 year old out of her crib for a couple days & give baths, but as for getting her back into her crib for naps/night time, I would put a chair up to her crib and let her climb in like a 'monkey'....or that's what we called it and she LOVED IT!!!  Otherwise, I just let them be a bit more independent & had coloring books & toys around for them to play with...and also, I hate to say it, but cartoons & movies were a big help too!  I usually don't let them watch too much TV, but I needed to rest/heal...so it was OK.  By the beginning of the 3rd week, I was back at work (desk job) & they were back at daycare, so very minimal 'effort'.  My surgery was lap...so my recovery was VERY quick

Could you have your mom or other relative/friend help on occasion with the picking' up?

Maybe you can start getting her used to "helping" you with diapers and getting up into their chair or bed etc. You won't be feeling like dealing with her reactions to the  new routine of no lifting when you're fresh out of surgery. Get her accustomed to it now with games or fun tasks that relieve you from lifting. You can go back to lugging your baby soon enough that you shouldn't/t feel bad to taking care of yourself after surgery.
